((Oops...sorry, didn't consider that :x

Also, All [WAND] type items have a Word that is bound to them - unsure if it means Free Syllable Word or something, clarify GM? That goes too with the spelltome - Technically, how many pages is in the default tome?))

((Heh, you've got the excuse of there being confusion over the order of sheet submission. I'm just impatient.  :P

Actually, I was wondering about the mechanics of the wand as well. Does it just shorten casts by autocasting a specific word, or is it like a wand of [word] instead of, say, a wand of fireball?))

"If we're to intrude on another's land, I think we should first try diplomacy." she said, flipping through her book for a translation of what she intended to say, "Insist that we mean no harm - explorers and all, perhaps appease the locals with lavish food?"

R'cee blinked once, regarding the strange woman being-ever stranger than most, this one. Her deep blue eyes-dark enough to be genuinely called inhuman-regarded Aira with subdued interest.

The Merwoman could not help but feel something about the woman was...oddly familiar. An indefinable accent, a certain quality-much like a lingering scent on the water or air, it was recognizable and yet implacable. Had they met before? She did not think so...but the feeling remained, all the same. Even more, there was sense of something left unsaid to a long gone family member, there was a palpable sense of...loss? Regret? She could not say...it was odd, and made her uncomfortable.

...Perhaps it was, as the land walkers liked to say, merely a trick of the light-a minor flicker in R'cees usually ordered mind, a momentary nothing. In another moment the feeling faded, but not entirely...and never completely.

She turned to her more fully.

"...Your peoples fondness for talk and compromise will never cease to mystify me, especially considering the odds at which your true intentions usually lie. I have heard the art of diplomacy among your kind is much like calming an animal with empty words, whilst finding a heavy stone with which to strike it upon the head..." She spoke light, her cadence slow, measured and respectful-to her, words were precious things that should not be wasted. Her accent was thick with the trade tongue she had studiously learned, exotic, yet pleasant to hear. "...Where I come from, one says what they mean, and the tides take away those who wait-there is no ground to hold, no deals to be made. Only the deciding who swims away, and who does not. I feel it will be the same here..."

Ren decides that this is obviously the best moment to force herself into this conversation. Setting things right, and stuff.

"Hey, look, fish-person. Diplomacy ain't a bad idea, even if it isn't really my thing. You don't have to beat the crap out of everything you come across, and that's what always happens if you're blunt to everyone. No diplomacy, no compromises, no lies, that equals no society, simple as that. And no well-paying jobs either."

"Seems that the testosterone brigade is off to bop some heads in, though, and there's no sense in not following up on decisions like these. You go into a fight half-hearted, you leave with only half of your heart."

R'cee nodded to Ren, raising an eyebrow.

"I actually have more in common with dolphins and whales than fish, but I digress...

I suppose your idea of society is large cities and many people? My own is just family, the clan, the pod-and they are the only ones I owe anything to. I do not pretend to care about the creatures we will soon face on the hill, compared to the lives around me at this moment. Neither do you. At best, you have some sense of wrong about blatant violence, or a fear of death that may come. Am I wrong? Your Diplomacy only works when one side fears the other enough he will not strike without leaving himself vulnerable. And, whatever is built on fear is an immaterial thing.

I am merely being a realist, something I understand your own people seem to have no like of.

Yet, your final point is your most potent-there are no half measures. Once committed to the throw, the spear will carry on regardless of the heart of he who threw it. Once we have decided, there is no going back-we must be of one mind moving forward."

Max walks back at the others, overhearing a part of their conversation.

"To be honest, I'm not too horribly keen on fighting those things either. Not even equipped for that sort of stuff.
Mainly just wanted to make sure... uh, what'shisname, Heinz didn't go off to get himself hurt too badly."

((Excellent! :D))

I was left behind again, wasn't I? Ah, well...

Head towards the hill. Once there, scout around for the most defensible part of it, as well as the entrance to the caves.

((:D Nice to see another Filipino around! Studying Latin/Quenya/Sindarin/Baybayin here though XP.))

Aira listened on, intrigued at the merfolk's words. Given her perspective, she truthfully reminded her of the merfolk legends in her area - guardians of the waters separating the isles, watchers of the deep regarding those above with a skeptic, albeit altruistic viewpoint. Caring for themselves, and perhaps those she was bound to.

She liked the woman already despite the short time they've been together.

"Whichever way we choose - its better to try than to strike at what could aid us. This is a group effort, we're in uncharted territory." she said, before turning towards Ashar - that newcomer who had bunked in the ship's quarters just a few days ago. "Which means all alternatives must be taken. Like not being late."

((@Cake: Requesting possible re-working of the wand thing if your description is different than we thought? Like, picking a different word instead of what we noted? :P))

This has promise. I'm emotionally invested in this, so I'm gonna bump already and clamor for the GM.

((Thanks Errol! Post up soon!))

Your party descends towards the hills, slowly marching onward. Albert stops for a while, then points his wand up and commands fire to go to the Temple. The fire goes in zig-zags, turning left and right. Then you hear a voice speaking, in a tongue you have never heard of before: "D'zpell!" The fire suddenly dissipitates, and you feel a sudden pang in your heart.

R'cee decides to try something. He points his wand towards the water and transfers the water to the group. ((I think that's what you meant, did Urk mean us or did you mean Erk?)) Joe also points his wand to the air and creates life! The life wasn't, however, intelligent. It falls and flops on the ground, rolling and squirming. It looks like a big blob of sinewy flesh...

Aira tries to make another form of life; she whispers a sentence and creates a cold flame, capable of good basic thought. It hovers around you, but you feel weakened due to the long sentence; now you have forgotten a lot of words, and it will be a while until you remember them again.

Your party finally makes it to the hill; you see some seagulls and pelicans flying about. You can hear some monkeys off to the jungle, too. The sky is still bright, and you enjoy the cool, sea breeze. The smell is very displeasant, however. You can smell blood coming from inside the caves below, and you can hear their jittery baa's.

The men soon arrive afterwards, carrying building supplies. They start putting up tents and building a fire; but those Goatlugs' cave is just below the large hill, which is ideal for camp due to the good vantage point, but dangerous unless the Goatlugs are cleared out. One of the men walks up to you and asks for orders.

What now?
