Raiding the military seems like a way to sign our death warrent.  By a precision guided missile.  Or ten.

Why not just go the way of the kill dozer and base it off of construction equipment.  Like an excavator with the big arm repurposed into something more killy.  Or a bulldozer, since that's already pretty close to a tank.

"Yes, we have a plan, rollcages to strengthen the body shells, uprated shocks and springs, bigger engine with a turbo and bonnet scoop, and some metal window louvers on the back for the added speed."

It taken you a few hours but you have the operations down to two camps, those after stealth and others after armour.

"so your sure that you want to be 5'6, Lauren? " you ask her as she sits on the operating table.
"Yes, lets get started." she state.
For days you work at the operating table, endless removing redundant organs, replacing bones with steel, and inserting subdermal Kevlar linings.

After a week of relentlessly work, you inspect your new and modified cyborgs.
   
The five newly enhanced snake people stand around, proudly showing off there, mat black radar-absorbent carapaces.
The remaining cyborgs are vastly rebuild all of them transformed in to towering juggernauts of steel and flesh as the body's struggle to contain the multiple organ and layers of armour.

We need some real firepower but not by a) attracting the armies attention and b) not in a way traceable to us.
I say we steal a bunch of rifles and shit, and then modify them to be fully automatic.

And as for the power armour it can't hurt to have even more defense and added strength and such.  Not to mention I imagine it'll be easier to fix power armour than it will be to fix the implants.
