They'll make it further than the Wild, who crawled into the playoffs only to face the buzz-saw that is Chicago. Still, reaching the playoffs for the first time in 5 years is nice.
Go Wild, I suppose. Chicago is good and all, but that would be a sweet upset.
Wings just won in overtime 5-4, and the series is tied 1-1.
EDIT: Watching the next game on May 4th now. I figured I probably shouldn't double post just because of it.
EDIT2: Expect a double post next game if no one posts between.
Also, I was disappoint to see the major 5 minute and misconduct. I think that hit was shoulder to shoulder first, with enough momentum to carry through to his head once it was on the same plane as the shoulder.
I think a suspension would be the wrong call. Abdelkader didn't jump into the air, he made contact where he was supposed to and was gliding, and then combined upper body movement with his forward momentum to increase the force of the hit, which powered directly through and into the unfortunate's head.
It makes me wonder if a complete bubble helm is possible, attached to the spaulder or other torso equipment, that would function as a sort of rollcage for the head and it's accompanying padding.
EDIT3: Haha, the Tigers scored a 17-2 baseball game while Michigan was watching the Hockey game.
The next game should be a good game for the Wings. Having to travel back and forth to the West every season is almost over finally. That kind of travel must be brutal.
