Bone Armor
« on: April 12, 2013, 05:41:17 am »

Is there any way to make a mask made from the skull of a fallen enemy? Like say I killed this coyote... anyway I can put them on or build a mask of sorts? I would love to see a mask with the name of the enemy I killed on it :P

I'm pretty sure this can be done using one of the crafting mods.  I dont play adventure mode, but there certainly used to be mods about that allowed bone crafting, it wont use a skull though, those are coded differantly from bones iirc.  It's going to be a generic bone helm though.  coyote bone helm or whatever...if the critter was named then theres no way for that to be transferred across to the material

I wish I had something cool to say about this.  Because it's really cool.

Go into your raws, make a .txt file named "reaction_bonemask"

Copy and paste this into that file:

Quote
[OBJECT:REACTION]

[REACTION:SKULL_MASK]
[NAME:craft a skull mask]
[ADVENTURE_MODE_ENABLED]
[REAGENT:A:1:TOTEM:NONE:NONE:NONE]
[PRODUCT:100:1:HELM:HELM_MASK:GET_MATERIAL_FROM_REAGENT:A:NONE]

This should work, I think.  Be warned, though: it'll look pretty, but your skull will get caved in pretty quickly if anyone decides to test your new mask.

Does the type of bone affect the utility of an armour? Is, say, dragon bone armour better than the one from chicken bones?

There's no difference between bones; the material strength is determined in the BONE_TEMPLATE of material_template_default.txt.

But if you were to mod it, then it would be possible, yes.
