No, we want to animate the roots- I'm saying we should prepare to do so. I suspect basin's unique, but we gotta test to make sure.

-edit
also, I suspect if all of our constructs gain a semblance of sentience, it comes from our power- that never truly dies, and if anything would likely appreciate getting a new body/better use.

Basin repeats its earlier acts, spraying bits of flesh all over the corridor. Only the zombie busy ripping apart the carnizelle is still showing signs of life. Speaking of which, it has partially dismembered the undead ungulate; one leg and a small pile of viscera lie puddled around its ankles. Still thrashing, the carnizelle continues to gnash its teeth, until the zombie finally manages to rip out its throat. Missing close to a third of its body, the small reanimated animal finally gives up the ghost. You feel the power you had invested in it return to you.

Speaking of returning power, you retreat to the intersection, withdrawing power from the shattered and barely recognizable arm golem. Newly energized, you charge forward, barely ducking under a ponderous swing of the large construct's arm. You touch your hand to the roots, pushing a few more scraps of the power into them. Their growth speeds visibly for a few seconds, sending large cracks down the golem's arm and into its chest. At the same time you try to funnel your newly recaptured power into them, but fail to do so. You feel a faint impression of pressure pushing back at you, as if you were trying to force something into a container which was already full. Distracted by this thought, you almost fail to notice the rather large, rocky knee coming up to meet you. With a frantic leap backwards you manage to avoid it, but stumble, falling into the remains of your golem.

Basin seems to be having trouble with the last zombie; apparently it hasn't opened its mouth. It's too slow to hit the rather agile blob, but conversely he can't do much against it from outside. As the hostile golem trudges nearer you can make out the form of a small flower bud growing from the original point of impact of your power. You try to raise your wand and feel a sharp twinge of pain in your arm, hastily switching it to your off-hand as you scramble to your feet.

In a rather detached part of your mind you note that the power seems to be slowly restoring itself over time, unlike the power.

animate the floor under the large golem, reinforce the green power in the large golem, hope basin does ok on his own.
note that the mouth isn't the only orifice in a human body, the nose and lower areas are both access points as well.

What lenglon said, concerning basin. I hope he can cleanse himself..

Mmm, let's just slowly retreat to the east, and whenever we build up 2 points of green energy use the wand on the golem. Once he seems significantly weakened by these, animate one more stone golem (this time with a power of 4!), and hopefully he'll be able to break him for good. Or we could trap the thing, and thereby prevent the power from leaving him.

Thoughts?

he's close to us and we have the power gathered already. lets animate right now. power is useless if unused.

i'm neutral on using green now or later, i can see either plan working.

If we're gonna sulfur the golem, I vote we aim for the plant part to burn away its insides.  Have Basin keep exploderizing them, I love when my plans work!  Poor Carny, though...

Animate what? The vines aren't animate-able, and we lose nothing by holding off on animating another section of stone- we aren't sure it isn't excessive use of our powers that's making us nauseous.

Burning the vines wouldn't do anything- best case scenario is we scorch the surface and that's it, with the utter lack of oxygen within the golem's body preventing further burning. Worse case involves actually succeeding at burning the vines- which would accomplish...preventing them from growing and damaging the construct further. Burning the plants won't help destroy the golem- the plant matter is already a weak point in the stone, and has the advantage of forcing the rock further apart vs just plain old open space.

Roots keep plants firmly in the ground just by being there.  They act as an anchor for surrounding soil, making it MUCH harder to yank apart.  the way I see it, our only option is to get some distance and either burn the roots to keep them from keeping the affected parts together, causing them to crumble more quickly, or to shoot more green at them to speed it up,  Getting closer would be BAD since there is now NOTHING keeping it from pounding us into mush.  Do we get our green points when a turn starts or after?  Means the difference between shooting 1 point or 2 this next turn...

plants act differently for rocks than for soil. their roots break rocks as they expand and grow, weakening them. they DO hold soil together once they have already grown, but the growth process itself is destructive, not reinforcing. do not burn the plants yet, if at all, instead wait for them to take over more of the golem.

as for why holding off an animating another section of stone will cost us? it's because of the great big golem closing on our position to try to de-animate us, that's why. lets get something between us and it, shall we?

It's too cumbersome, moves to slowly, to be a real threat unless we get cornered. If we retreat to a larger room instead of a hallway, we'd have more options, and a greater advantage over the bulky thing. Along the way we can continue to feed the growth, and in keeping our power within us a. we have more flexibility if something unforeseen crops up and b. if it's an overuse of our abilities causing our nauseousness, we won't aggravate the situation.

So, we'll continue to completely ignore my amulet suggestions? Okay. I'm cool with that.

It's not quite THAT urgent, we just cast a spell that will kill the golem slowly, and Basin is exploderizing the zombies.  Long as it stays as slow as it is, we are in no danger from it.  The only trouble is if there's at least 1 monster roaming the halls, or if we get cornered.  We just need to keep outta range and absorb OUR golem to use its power in an emergency.  Though we may get our power back from Carny soon if Basin isn't fast enough...
