even if we're in the lair of a group of evil cultists, i wouldn't assume they're hostile. keep in mind we ended up here somehow. if they summoned us, then they wanted us to be here. also, something has been killing them off already. i want to know what that something is before we encounter it. if they had all this magic and got trashed so easilly, why would we fare any better?

our lack of information is going to cost us a ton at some point in the future, we need it fixed asap.

Yeah, but going around this ghost-tunnel shouting our ignorance to ANYTHING nearby is not going to accomplish your goals. Based on the fact that they're all dead, possibly for days, (therefore the ritual must have seemed a dud at first..), and the nature of that slip of research we found, I suspect they didn't exactly know what they were doing, and worse, they were wiped out for it, (seeing as how they're a cult). If any of them were alive now, we would have seen one in our chamber, he would have tidied up after his dead friends, and we would not be running into ferocious beasts now.
Based on this, anything and EVERONE we are likely to encounter here will be hostile, and therefore we should be smart, and stealthy.

Also,
(this isn't a human, it doesn't know how to open doors)
I'd say that only truly rules out velociraptors.

-edit
To be clear, I'm not worried about the cultists, I'm worried about the people that did them in.
Also: I've detected a problem with my previous plan: (how about 'Basin'?) glows blue. Hard to be stealthy when one is phosphorescent. No chastisement for Basin.

((Right now you're looking at this as your course of action:
+Withdraw power from Shrine, flow power into ceiling, retreat, animate ceiling as whatever was inside passes underneath.
+Keep Basin and the carnizelle with you while doing the above.
+Don't mess with your screwed up arm any more.
+Vars. minor actions, questions, and thoughts that I can fit into the flow at one point or another.

Any additions or changes ya'll want to make?))

that seems about right.

and as for stealth or no stealth...
fair enough, you make a good point.
stealth it is.

mmm, here I drew you a picture:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Where x is our location & the brown line is the door.

Figured we might be able to animate it, have it stay up there, then use our telepathic link to our creations to have it collapse when the critter is under it, (assuming it's not a fluffy wambler).

Musings: I wonder if the blob's sentience is a product of it's inherent magic, or a property of liquid in general?

((Just a reference, you're actually a bit down the passage. The door's only closing off the room, not the branching corridor. Apologies for not posting an updated map the last few times, one will be with the next update, which should be in a few hours (i.e. when I'm not posting from a hallway of my own). So you've got a length of passage, a bit closer to the door than to the main corridor. You can see it in the map in post #85, the second side hall from the right on the south side of the map, with the brown line at the end.))

Hmm...personally, I think we're some kind of extra-dimensional demon summoned by the cultists to save them from the monsters that decided they taste good.  The carnizelle might be the result of another, failed summoning, and there MAY be some cultists hiding somewhere.  They live here, did we pass a bedroom yet?  An armory?  If no, they would likely barricade themselves in there to save themselves.  If we run into a door that won't move or something we'll need to see if we can actually talk.  Until then, at least TRY to talk to whatever is on the door while laying the trap.

Thinking quickly, you backpedal, drawing your power from the shrine. It shudders to a halt as you urge Basin and the carnizelle past while channeling power into the ceiling. The door splinters, bits flying off. You've almost reached the main corridor when the deadbolt snaps, the door flying open to slam against the wall with a tremendous bang. You look up, and up, and up. Almost to the ceiling, in fact. You don't know what it is, exactly, but it damned sure isn't human. It's stone, similar in color and patterning to that of the rough-hewn rooms and passages you've seen since you woke. Furthermore, it's advancing on you slowly but steadily. Behind it you can make out a few more human-sized figures, though they move with the same unnatural gait. Two of them are clad in the same dark robes as all of the corpses, the third in something different, though in the poor light you can't make out what. One of the dark-robed ones seems to be missing his arms.

You call on the energy that you poured into the ceiling as the construct passes beneath, and slabs of stone flow downward around it, forming a mass of three-fingered arms centered on a rock sphere. It grapples with the big one, tripping it. The golem faceplants, reaching around its back in an attempt to capture your new construct. The three humans-are they human?-advance without a care, stumbling over the entwined golems towards you.

You feel slightly ill.

[] Order Basin and the carnizelle to charge.
[] Attack! Attack! Attack!
[] When danger reared its ugly head, She bravely turned her tail and fled.
[] We have power, use it!
[] Write-in.

You can easily fit together two or three of those.

I doubt they tried to summon us as a defense mechanism- we were too useless at the start to have done them any help, even if we hadn't had a delayed summoning.
I'm inclined to believe the carnizelle is just an indigenous species- no reason to assume otherwise, occam's razor and all that.
That's literally the only way they'd be 'living' here- if we can't magic a door open, and somehow base can't get through to look for us, knocking's the next option.

Hmm, we're not alone.
Try to address the different humanoid:
"Who goes there? Explain yourself!"
Have the carnizelle attack any zombies that make it through the arms,
and have the arms focus on pinning the golem, or otherwise disabling it.
Based on the power required to maintain the carnizelle's 'life', we may be able to modify it's skin a bit, (not like it'll feel any discomfort after all). Use green power on carnizelle to toughen it's skin

Since they're zombies, the humans will have the upper hand on the carnizelle since they have manipulator arms. Lets hope the zombies get pulverized by the golems, and if we can't get a response from the different humanoid, send the carnizelle in a blitz at his head.
Have the golem try to pulverise the zombies, including the strange one if it doesn't respond immediately. We'll likely lose him, and in this eventuality retreat to the top-right room, where we found basin. There we can kite the golem, and get back to this point if we need to retrieve our power from our broken golem. Bring our friends with us.

Also: if needed, use green power to transform golem into wood. Use sulphur power to set fire to wood. When we're clear of danger, we should *carefully* experiment with base- is it possible to imbue base with green power, so he can disseminate it while we're at range?

We could also rush forward and put the green power into the golem while they're grappling, giving our golem an edge, but it's risky.

Once we know for sure they're HUMAN zombies, have our water buddy flow into their mouths and burst them from the inside out!

((Just to clarify, since there seems to be a bit of misunderstanding: the difference between the 'red' zed and 'black' zeds is the clothing-the red one isn't dressed in black robes, but you can't really see what it's wearing beyond the fact that it isn't the same as all the other dead folk. I noted that for a reason, mind.  ;)))

Well we got all our gems from the black ones, right?  If the red means higher rank, he prolly USED them to get some magic...
Have the molesting water go down the throats of the black ones and stretch them until they explode!
If the red one IS magic, lets hope his zombie brainz will keep him from defending his buddies.  Maybe send the carnizelle after him?  I vote we set the carnizelle on fire and have it just tackle the red one, rotting flesh should burn up good, right?  Unless the "sulfur" clue is ACTUALLY hinting at some kind of demonic summoning jutsu...

I doubt they tried to summon us as a defense mechanism- we were too useless at the start to have done them any help, even if we hadn't had a delayed summoning.
They may not have had much accurate information, and it seems that we have a great deal of potential. It may be that they summoned "The right-hand beast of Galgurnacht the irrepressible, with which the Order of Ominous Omens and its thousand onerous knights were destroyed." and they failed to appreciate that the legendary feats were only achieved after a great deal of energy was forcibly injected into it...

I propose we send everything we have in to attack, the fluid can probably penetrate their front most potently, and therefore should enter their back rank and abuse their head zombie.
The carnizelle should probably make ramming attacks to keep the black ones to keep them off-balance.
We should try to drain energy from the golem.
The ceiling should keep attacking the golem, though it would have been nice to have had it drop on the others...

I support this plan.  Can we even drain magic?  The golem appears rather strong, so draining whatever potent magic animates it COULD boost our power, but we might need to actually touch it or something.  Let's use the green power on the torso, if we turn it into wood and snap it the rest won't have anything holding it together.  If we get a good roll, have the green create a line through it, rather than a big circle, so if we CAN burn it then it will fall in half rather than have a gaping hole which would likely give Grabby McWaterGrope a minus penalty due to instincts. Heheheh...

Hmm, it's possible, but given that they apparently put a lot of effort into their research, and the fact that it took what appears to be a rather complicated ritual, I'm more inclined to figure they were found out and exterminated in an attempt to prevent our birth.

Meh, I doubt gropy groper grabby feely I know! Lets call him Tillit! After titillating! I think it fits.
Anyway, I doubt Tillit can get enough pressure to exploderize things. Though, stealing energy sounds very appealing, and we should at least try it on the red zombie, if not all of them. It runs the risk of making us pass out though, so we should use it with caution.
-Have the many-armed golem grapple/restrain the others, rush forward and DRAIN THE (enemy) GOLEM'S LIFE-FORCE! MWAHAHAHAHA!

I don't like the fact that we're feeling ill.
Possible causes:
Magic- red zombie is special, we're too low on power, we've been moving power too frequently.
Physical- something isn't mixing well with our system; Tillit residue, green patch is poisonous
