What's more important is the people who were around, because garablahFoundingfathers. I find it interesting to read things about the American Revolution from British sites.

I think that the Civil war defined how Americans viewed themselves in a lot of ways.
Also it ended slavery and such.
Also the revolutionary war was on a much smaller scale.

But... Benjamin Franklin...

Similarly to the earlier Tommy J-Dog, Benjamin Franklin is to be referred to as Big Man Benny. This helps to make history relevant and relatable to today's young people.
You see, G-man the Dubya and the Founding Gang didn't like Georgie the Third horning in on their cash without letting them have a say, so they decided to tell the Brits what they thought and break off from Georgie's mob. Then the Brits came to take back their turf, but it took so long that G-man the Dubya and the Founding Gang convinced Georgie that he shouldn't mess with America. They wrote up some house rules to keep everyone straight, and here we are today, you feel me bro?

What's the fuss is about? American civil war only took like 4 years. Learning about every battle must be tough I guess.

I still remember all the stuff I had to memorize. Oh, Ottoman Empire, why didn't you ease up on the invasion throttle and save future students from lots of memorizing?
Ehh, it's alot considering how short the US has existed, and its after effects.

I mean seriously, it made the most important issue of the terms of at least 6 presidents. AS we've only had 44, that's a significant percentage(although one died after 6 months).

I'm more interested in American Revolution rather than American Civil War. The revolution against the British seems more interesting and I always wondered why there aren't more films and games about the revolution. You'd think the birth of a country should be more important than the civil war but that's just the foreigner in me speaking.

The Civil War was our most costly war and people all over the country are still pretty angry, I have been told people in the south are still angry at Sherman's March, and people in the North tend to get pissed off every time we see a confederate flag, and people in New England take a lot of pride in the revolution, I am a Ohioan so we don't really care, and instead focus on the various things going on in our area.

Also AP US history is awesome, they cover too much ground to home in on a particular time period but still Devling take it if you can

what do you mean Ohioans don't care?

Fellow Ohioan here (Go Bucks!) and may I remind you we were on the front-line down south with both Virginia and Kentucky to contend with. We provided nearly 320,000 troops (60% of the entire male population of Ohio) of which 10% died in the war effort. Many of the high ranking generals came from Ohio as well. Grant, Sherman (yes that Sherman), Sheridan, Cox, and Garfield (who later became president) to name a few. Hell, both the Secretary of war and Attorney general during Lincoln's administration were Ohioans.

The Columbus hockey team is named the Blue-jackets after the union uniforms for Pete-sake, the civil war is probably more remembered here in Ohio than anywhere else up north.

I should clarify we care less about the revolution, and also as both my parents went to Michigan I have to say this:

I love the Wolverines

Oh and just to point out the area I am in is on the border with Kentucky uses please to have people repeat what they said, but anyways like you should know this is a pretty conflicted region, mainly because we have Kentucky to our south and pretty much the hub of the abolitionist movement in the Mid-west with a river to divide them.

Also what do you think of our govenor?

Not a big fan of him really, although that may be my democratic bias speaking. Honestly i would like him A lot more if all of his campaign ads last election weren't smears against his competitors, and instead focused on actually explaining his platform.

And don't you even dare say you like the Wolverines. I live in central Ohio so Buckeye football is basically a religion here.

Actually I really hated what he tried to do to Unions, but after he did not try to repeat it, and started to focus on developing natural gas as a source of revenue I started to respect him, and while I wouldn't vote for him, he certainly paid for some of his sins,

Also one of my friends was out canvasing as part of an APUSH project, and he was dressed entirely in Michigan gear, he walks up to this house that was very obviously pro OSU and when the guy came out my friend took off done the street, when the guy he was with came up to the OSU fan the fan responded by basically saying your Michigan fan took off down the street.

Also I hate Steve Chazzbot or Chabbot

Well I'm a gringo here in Lima, Perú, my second semester if anybody is curious about the country.

Weather is still very nice, though I can tell winter is coming. Which here, is endless dreary days of clouds, with occasional misty "rain". Ugh

Weather is trolling in İstanbul. You'll decide to wear your leather jacket in the morning, when it's noon you decide it's just too fucking hot to wear a jacket so you leave it at your friend's house, then when it's late afternoon you'll just be running to your friend's house to get back your warm jacket. It will start to rain even though there wasn't any clouds in them morning if you're really unlucky. True story.

[rant]
Weather? Don't talk to me about weather. Ohio is famous in the states for it's temperamental climate, goddamn lake and all screwing with everything. It's spring right now and i had to thaw my car out before going to work this morning, and last winter i was able to walk around town in shorts and a t-shirt. until it starts raining that is, and it ALWAYS rains here, especially if you plan on going somewhere nice for the day. Unless of course you want it to rain to help water your plants, then we have a month-long dry spell.

at least in the other states the weather seems to stay fairly consistent with the seasons and you can reasonably trust the weatherman. My weatherman might as well be a chicken for all i care what he says, usually it's more accurate to just look at the sky and guess, but you'll most likely still be wrong.

ALL. YEAR. ROUND.

Screw nature.

Well last winter here (August, September) it wasn't uncommon to go over a week in Lima without seeing sunlight.
