this thread is to discuss your country and if your happy with living where you do and why and such!



I live in Canada and i love it here!

Suprisingly enough where i live gets the most varying temperatures in all of Ontario with -40 C in winter and + 40 C in the summer, crazy right?
Its a heavily forested area too so thats a plus
Taxes arent too high here and they pay for healthcare so you dont see me complaining.

the only thing i would have to complain about in my country is the prime minister! stephen harper.
in my opinion; when somebody asks to change the name of the government to his last name instead of the countries name you have a problem.
(its called the "Harper Government" now instead of the "Canadian Government" i guess 3 terms isnt enough for him eh?)

so anywhoo! state your country and lets have ourselves a discussion!

I mean, we have... politicians who are really stupid/terrible. Okay, ignore the government! It's our history! I mean... 800 hundred years of oppression. Nevermind the history, then! The land itself is great! If you can ignore the ghost estates, abandoned housing projects that are a testement to the innate fuck-ups of our government, and the endless fenced off fields which restrict the trees from growing causing huge amounts of vines growing on trees and fungal diseases...

... Dublin's nice for a daytrip! As long as you avoid the heroin-struck areas!

Ireland is currently in the leagues with Greece in terms of economic ruination, and Dublin has a pretty serious heroin problem, so... yeah. It's not so bad when you're living in the pretty mild part of Ireland (Westmeath, AKA the middlest of the midlands), but... When your local bogs have been scraped dry and the only natural one that's being perserved is being perserved by Belgians who are completely flabberghasted with our total non-caring of the environment... It kinda gets you down.

On the good side, the vast majority of the locals are really nice, the scenery can be wonderful (There is a reason why Game of Thrones was made in Ireland, albeit Northern Ireland though that's only an hour up the road), and there is an awful lot of Irish artists which is probably not a coincidence. Also, we have the the Rubber Bandits.
