Are people really trying to posit the preposterous idea that they are better than the nation that spawned the hiphopoppotamaus and the rhymenocerous, that so effectively stole China's most valuable resource that few even know from whence it originally came, with the most welcoming and varied climate, harmless wildlife and a robust ecosystem, the only colonial country to eventually  be formed from a union with the natives (no matter how one sided) rather than their outright subjugation, and the nation with the best nickname for it's populace of all the countries in the world?

That was more to do with the German war machine being an absolute beast in the early campaign. The Belgians had some of the best Fortresses of their time back then, and it was not common knowledge until after WWII that mobility > Waffle Forts.

19 Actually. The last of the first line of fortresses only surrendered after being given an explicit order by the King. They reasoned that first surrender only counted for the normal forces, not for the bunkers, hence kept on fighting. One of the few battles were the first line lasted longer then the last.

More like airpower > forts. The fortresses were illequiped (read, not equiped) for air defense, and were almost all eliminated by air attacks and glider trooper landings.
