Flat Earth theory is an excellent thinking exercise.

Most people believe the earth is spherical simply because they've been taught that it is and have grown up surrounded people who believe it. And will happily laugh at the "fools" who don't also believe the things that they only believe because they were told to believe it.

If your reaction is to try to defend the idea of a spherical earth, to try to "prove" that it's not flat...you're completely missing the point.

The point is to self-examine your own mechanism of believe and understand why you believe what you do.

Quite so. There are a lot of facts we take for granted. Such as why do we assume gravity affects everything constantly in the universe? The first reason for this was "because God." My mind = blown.

Well, anyone who lives on the coast knows idea of a flat earth is a bunch of bunk (and it's why almost no one believed this, historically, among seafaring countries). Proving a spherical (or roughly spherical) earth is a lot harder, though, and there's a reason it took a good deal longer!

You guys know nothing, the earth is clearly cone-shaped.
And it rests upside down on an intergalactic highway,
always at risk of being run down by celestial vehicles manned by huge aether squids on their way to the purgatory where they feast upon restless souls.
