It would probably be suicide to try and stay to fight, so lets warn them, and try to evacuate as many people as possible.
that is a good plan, it they get so close as to be a threat then whip out the rail gun, shoot our way out if we have to.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

Lets get back to the station, get on the ship, warn them as we are taking off, and get the fuck out of here well we still have the chance and with no chance of them stealing our ship for use as a defense force.

What if we were to charge for evacuation? Would you be okay with taking some people then?

Yay! Easy money!
We might be able to get some additional crew members here, too.  Provided the station believes us.
We should get this big ship back, and look for anything good we can steal on the way back.  Then we should warn the guys, get some evacuees for cash, and leave. (This is just a compilation of ideas.)
Also, how do we aim the railgun?  Is it purely forward- facing?  How much food do we have on our ship?

1) The Railgun is indeed purely forward facing so you have to move the entire ship to aim it.
2) Things like food, water, and such will (in most cases) be ignored to keep complexity from slowing down updates, and such. So (unless listed otherwise) you always have enough supplies for a good quality life style, at least as good as life in a metal box flying through space at near light speed can get.

Why don't we explain it away with our ship having facilities to convert the energy from our generators to a chemical form- in other words, a food production machine that recycles human waste?  It could be interesting if it ever breaks.  There could even be a reason for stations wanting normal food- the recycled food tastes like crap.  (SeewhatIdidthere)
Just a suggestion, though.

Hey, near- lightspeed is plenty comfortable, so long as you don't try and slow down too fast.

:P It's a neat idea but technology is nowhere near close enough to have food production machines sadly, also no worries there can be times when food or water becomes an issue for you all to fix. :3

?
It's a simple as grabbing an aquarium full of algae and pointing a lamp at it. No high tech food replicators needed.

I meant the high tech form which he was describing, what you just listed is indeed possible though I'd assume people might get tired of eating algae or anything else from said aquarium. However being a ship made for salvaging it doesn't have any form of hydroponics, or food production, in fact most ships won't have such facilities, the only ones that might would be colony ships or long distance freighters.

It takes you a few moments of silent thought, but you set yourself to a decision just as Cyphus himself walks in with the two Grim Brothers and your deckhand not far behind him. As the man enters you notice he glances around the room, stopping to look at the deckhand working almost frantically at one of the terminals before turning to face you. The expression on his face is one of confusion but oddly enough, and against your expectations, he refrains from asking any questions, and instead waits for you to begin talking. It takes you a moment to organize your thoughts, but you soon begin to explain the situation to him,

"Cyphus, our situation has just become less then desirable, while there were Scavs on board they left not long ago, and one of them could miraculously speak Common fairly well. He told us that they were running from a Marauder Warhost that is at this very moment bearing down on this system, and your station.

We need to get a message back to the station right away, and have them begin the evacuation immediately. I am willing to help but our ship can only hold so many, and a man has to make a living so it'll cost."

You watch his expression as it changes from confused to ... profoundly calm for some reason, he takes what you say in stride and turns to whisper something to the Brothers before turning back to you. You see one of them seemingly talking to himself, and assume he's sending word back to the shuttle and thus back to the station before turning your attention back to Cyphus himself.

"Well then we best be getting back shouldn't we? I'll see you are paid for this mission as well as for aiding in the evacuation, but once we get back to the station there is much we have to discuss. For now we don't know where this Warhost is and that is a good thing, it means they can't be within a day or so reach of us, and thanks to our work ships can't warp into the area around the station. Now come on we gotta get this rust bucket back to the station."

With that the man turns and hops up into the captain's chair while the Brothers oddly enough take over the navigation terminals, shrugging slightly you order the deckhands and Granite to assist them while you head off down to the cargo bay to meet up with Lilian. You find her lounging on the shoulder of the now inactive Hauler Exo-Suit, she is reclined across is idly waving a gun in the air, as you approach she points it at you. For a few seconds you actually feel worried for your life, but she quickly falls back laughing slightly at your reaction, apparently your abrupt stop was a tad to abrupt.

"I know whats going on so no worries, Granite clued me in while you were on your way down here however you choice of action seems a tad odd. Getting a bit greedy are we Smith? Oh well what do I care, as long as I keep living, you pay for whatever little things I want, and keep along a path I agree with you can do as you want."

With that she jumps down off that hauler, and disappears up the service elevator leaving you feeling slightly dumbstruck at what she had said. You think on her words on your way back to the station and realize they might be a tad bit trouble to you in the coming days ...

~ Time Skip to Station ~

As the freighter pull into the enclosed repair bay, and the massive hangar doors close behind you soundlessly you step out into the zero-g space of the bay with Cyphus and your crew all around. Heading for the door you are stopped as Cyphus grabs your shoulder and signal you to a private channel, as the comms crackle showing the connection you hear his voice chime through,

"Well Captain Roberts I am off to a meeting that will decide the course of actions we shall take, its you choice whether to go to your ship but I'd like to ask you to come along. We need all the heads we can put together if we wanna get out of this without us all dying, what do ya say?"

We charge them 200% to 500% of our expenses for evacuation. Let them name a number first.

-1?  Why?  I was suggesting essentially the same thing as you.
Unless by 'go along' you understood 'work with them in order to best benefit everyone and be fair, while doing everything they ask of us'-  I just meant physically.

I wanted to pull away a little from money grubbing. I understood the go along part.
