Hero ThreadData Compendium / Extended OOCDisclaimer: The 'GM' of this game is in no way satirizing Yahwen/God/Jehova/Allah/whatever. The 'God' in this game is not the benevolent God. Ze is more like a bored subspace entity playing Space Sims.
Story
In the beginning of time, there was nothing. There was no darkness, no light, no time, no space. Everything is void. Then... out of nowhere, a sentience had developed. This sentient being, dubbing itself 'God', is capable of manipulating itself to its will. With its power, the entity had created the universe.
But soon after, it grew bored, and destroyed that universe and returned everything to void. Then, it had an idea. An idea thought up by a race of sentients long extinct. Democracy.
Soon God created several omnipotent beings, known as Deities, to be his advisers. But still God is bored, so he left the multiverse, leaving his shell as a machine that would operate to serve the majority and alter the universe according to their wills.
And that, is where you deities come in. You have the power of Godhood at your fingertips, and you can do anything you please with it. Problem is, you will have to compete with your peers, and diplomacy is always needed, as it will be a difficult road to wrench control from everyone.
Alternatively, after a civilization is established, you can choose to play as a Hero, a mortal with the power to resist Fate and kill deities.
Deity Basics
You are a Deity. A formless agent tasked and gifted with the ability to shape the universe to your will. However, unless you somehow managed to convince God to give you part of his power, you are essentially powerless on your own. Your 'voice' is determined by dice rolls, which will be elaborated in more details later. Think of this as a God version of Diplomacy, except I never played Diplomacy, so I might not be very accurate. Every time you want to alter reality, you must start a 'Petition' in which I will also elaborate later. If your petition succeeds you will get to alter reality. After you lay down the foundation of the universe and created a habitable planet, you might decide that you don't like having to argue with others all the time to have something done, and create an Avatar for yourself. Your avatar, still, will need approval from others first. Avatars will have their stat boosts and such, and I will explain it more later.
Apart from reality-altering requests, you can also request things like "Double my voice power" or "Let me be GM for a week (which I might allow if I'm in a mood to be a deity for a while)". Of course, keep in mind that the others need to allow it. Still, some stuff like resetting the universe will be sorted out by normal vote.
Petitions, Motion and VoicePetitions are requests which can range from summoning Cthulhu to eat a planet to dropping a bowl of spaghetti on a random avatar. It can also be subjective, like asking to be a GM (if for some reason you want to be eliminated from the game and let me play) or doubling your Voice. Petitions can also be raised to negate a previous petition. Universe-destroying/nullifying petitions and something that render the game unplayable is illegal by default unless I allow it. Resetting the game cannot be done via petitions, and will be sorted out by normal voting.
'Voice' is the score that determine how much your opinion matters. Unless you have any special modifiers on it will be from 1-6 from a dice roll. The number will be added together after everybody decided to disagree or agree (people who won't reply for 3 days without anybody else deciding will be disagreeing on default). If the score for Agree is higher than Disagree, the Petition will be in effect.
Dumb requests like multiplying somebody's Voice by 100 will be rejected by me on default unless it is approved by a Motion.
However, Petitioning is a lengthy process that can take over a week to get something done... and you might instead want to make an Avatar and take things in your hands. If more than half didn't reply, they'll just instead be neutral. Note that you can't opt for neutrality in normal circumstances. This is intended.
Motions, are like Petitions, except that instead of being a part of the game, they are actually just normal votes. They are used to deal with things involving the game itself, and not the game universe. Motions are automatically ignored unless they have been seconded, in which I will then put them up for vote. Unlike Petitions, however, the voting score is just a majority rule with no dices or luck involved whatsoever. If a majority is not reached within 3 days, the motion will automatically fail.
Petition QuotaTo keep everything from turning into a clusterfuck, only one petition can be voted at one time. If a petition is active at the moment, and somebody submit another request, it will be added onto a waitlist. If I think that a previous petition nullified the need for yours, then I will contact you and discuss it before removing it from the list.
After the Midgame start (one habitable planet created), you can only submit 10 more petitions before a player on the waiting list replace you. First avatar creation request doesn't use up your petitions.
(Vetoed petitions still use up your petition quota, though, unless it's a first avatar petition)
AvatarsYou can start a petition to create or affect avatars of your own or somebody else's. An avatar can range from a subspace demon to a gnat, it depends on your request and if the others agree with it. Avatars can be destroyed by a petition easily.
You should specify your avatar's specific traits, failure to mention a skill will make me assume the average for your avatar's other traits (like a world-sized turtle should have strength matching its size, but a tiny beetle that you mention specifically to be strong enough to lift a building would be able to do it)
Seeing that your avatar can vary, modifiers for rolls will be handled by me. If you find that the modifiers are inappropriate, do tell me.
A city-sized demon should be able to automatically stomp a normal building without rolling, but a fly should automatically fail.
Avatars are not limited by turns, and their actions are first-come-first-serve. Think of this as deities warping time to move at high speed.
So, what should I do?This is a sandbox game. You can do whatever you want. Gather allies and wage war against opposing deities, maybe. Or collectively create an Utopia. The choices are up to you.
So how can I join? All you just need to do is post asking to be added to the game. You may want to include your deity name, but apart from that no details are needed, since you are basically a formless hive-mind. To make things orderly, I'm limiting the number of active players at one time to 10. I doubt the game will garner much attention to get its slot filled right at the start. You will be able to participate until you have submitted 10 petitions (so use them wisely!), and then you will be out of the game and a player in the waiting list will be put on. Your avatar(s) will be put into stasis, but your loyal NPCs and creations won't, so try to have some sort of defenses and allied players to protect your properties if you're planning to play again.
If nobody is in the Waiting list, you will be put on Rotation list. You will be able to play, but when a new player join you will be kicked out and replaced. If you don't reply after two weeks, you will also be replaced if there are people waiting and there are nobody else on rotation.
