Honestly the reason I made this thread was because I often was needlessly negative, not because I was a negative person.

Yeah I am cancelling this. For the most part I find that it isn't conducive to proper discussion to only be positive and often whenever I tried to say something positive I found that immediately it was being dishonest without a complete picture.

In other words this is far FAR worse then being constantly and irritatingly negative.

I kind of thought the point wasn't to only participate in discussion with a positive outlook but instead just not say anything at all when what you have to say would be negative. That kind of self restraint seems like it would be a lot harder.

Yeah but neutral comments are negative too since they are backhanded or rely on fair commentary (which is also not possible)

Either that or they are saying nothing at all.

At my best I balance the positives and negatives of anything and present both and either give my own conclusion or allow others to make up their own minds. With negative free may it means that cannot be done.

I didn't say neutral comments. I said "not say anything." As in not post at all. That would make it a lot easier to browse around and just say something positive when appropriate without being "dishonest" or whatever.

Not posting at all would be against the point which was more of an exercise for "me" to learn new ways to not be overly negative and cynical.

In that, when I am being overly negative towards something, somehow everyone starts to like it.. MORE.
