Negative Free May Signup *Cancelled*
« on: April 05, 2013, 04:54:41 pm »

So as you may know I have been sort of the dark cloud of the Bay12 forum, if there is a topic sure enough I am there to rain negativity down infecting everyone with the Negavirus giving people the bad case of the WTFs.

So as an exercise for the entire month of May I am not going to use a single negative comment whatsoever. The hope is that this exercise will teach me how to temper my comments so that I am able to write in a less offensive way as often I have delved into straight depressive pessimism.

Why Make a topic?
Psychologists have recognized that publically announcing you are doing something is more likely to have actual results then making private resolutions. In making this topic I am more beholden to keep it.

So what is this sign up?

Why not join as well? There are two levels of sign ups. You can either take the Pledge to be only positive and neutral for the month of may or for only the first week. I will put your name up and perhaps even update it to see who was able to keep it up.

But I like negativity. Especially of the constructive kind, it breeds perspective and understanding.

My problem is more of raining obnoxiousness on every thread I post, for some reason my posts always stick out like a sore thumb.

I pledge positivity and awesomeness for the entire month duration of April 5 to May 5! I fear I will forget if I start in May.

Wait, I think I don't understand what positive and negative are here exactly. Signup redacted.

Being negative grounds me in reality, and being nice and positive all of the time is too boring.

I like to think of myself as being an optimistic sort, even though my fiction tends to straddle the line between "horribly dark and depressing" and "grimdark for the sake of grimdark". I'm not sure if I should take this pledge. If I don't it's slightly arrogant. if I do, it may be pointless.

Also, hey, my birthday is at the end of May! Thanks for the birthday present of an entirely pleasant month.

Oh, positive sarcasm would be wonderful LC.

Time to find out if Neonivek is addicted to hatred. Do you have a lifeline set up? :P

In all seriousness, maybe try for a 1-2 combination. If you're going to say something negative, look for a relative positive that's worth saying too. Pointing out positives can promote understanding and perspective too.

Wouldn't the resolution be about the true intent of the statement, meaning all sarcasm would have to be negative? F.e:

Right. Of course that wouldn't work!
