Double post, but semi important. As a few of you might now I've been kicking around the idea of an "animation night", basically where people show little animations (think game grumps fan animations, maybe stand up routines, just stuff that isn't music but still might be worth showing off). Obviously it'd be youtube.
Now, I'm kind've wondering, would people prefer if these animations happened on one day a week or would you prefer if they just happened randomly?
Keep in mind these facts while doing it, the animation will not be longer then an hour. That's just too long to be clogging up the DJ booth in my opinion. I'm willing to wiggle a bit but I don't want this stuff to be hanging up the entire room for forever. You can show stuff close to that, but try not to make it a regular thing. ADjust your playlists accordingly. Basically the same general rules for the music room with a bit of a concession made for longer stuff, because sometimes these can get lengthy.
No LP's, general footage of MST3K sort've things, commenting over a reel. Much like the first rule, this is't a solid rule but if you're showing one off please try to keep it short and/or high quality. Most of it should be original content.
Showing short acted films is fine. Full length films, not so much. Try to keep super well known films out of it as well, if only because most people have seen them and they eat a lot of time.
As with all "rules" in the plug.dj room, they're really more of guidelines, you're not gonna get booted for anything but being an enormous cock for no reason, at worst you will get force skipped by me, at best you might get warned and get to go ahead with it. And as a final statement, I have run this by toady, in his own words he said he wasn't going to try to police youtube links, and this is basically a youtube link with a chatroom attached so it's likely fine.
