Apparently, the sequel to the rather... unique, both in mechanics and art style, First Person Brawler game is going to be released on April 30 and is now available for pre-purchase on Steam. And it has co-op and RPG elements. And is on Unreal III engine. Make of that what you wish.

Preordering apparently is a crapshoot becauase if the game's bad, then you get pre-emptively ripped off. Since advertising is usually dishonest, people generally prefer to hear reviews first rather then preorder.

Yeah, its pretty much always better to not preorder, even if its from a trusted developer.  Just in case.

They aren't perfect, but at least you have the option of looking at many reviews.  You can usually find out if its a broken mess pretty easily.

If I hadn't pre ordered Dark Souls PC edition and listened to initial reviews and bitching I would have missed out on what was my best gaming experience last year. Instead i stomached through my initial disappointment and ended up having an immense amount of enjoyment from that flawed port.

False dichotomy - you could have waited with the purchase until after it released.

I wouldn't have purchased it then, after hearing the initial over-the-top negative reaction. The Internet can't really be trusted to give a balanced opinion on anything.

Or maybe you would have gotten it later at half-price and with some of the bugs fixed.  I don't think there was THAT much bad reaction for Dark Souls on the PC.
