Quarter 1, Meeting 2

The day of the vote is here, tensions are high and the media is buzzing about what will get passed in the first quarter. After an agonizing wait as the speaker of the house attends to the press, the meeting is finally called to order and the first round of arguments start.

Voting  Mechanics

As a reminder here is the current list of bills up for vote.

The Police Funding Bill proposed by Adam Bradley
The Rebuilding Act Proposed by Salvador Mamali
The Criminal Organizations Act Proposed by Markus
The Beru Heritage Act

Format your ballot in the following way for voting

For
Against
Abstain

Voting opens up certain action you may take advantage of at this time. No other actions are allowed while voting is in progress. Creative or unorthodox actions may be accepted if deemed reasonable, but everything is subject to GM approval

Argue for/against a bill - Attempt to convince the house whether to vote for a bill or not, if you have any information about a bill take this time to reveal it.

Filibuster - Attempt to delay a bill until next voting period by talking your head off about absolutely nothing. Difficult but useful if you have no convincing arguments against a bill. Prevents you from arguing for/against bills.

Bribe Officials
- Meet up in the break-room with a few of your fellow representatives to persuade them to your point of view. Will convince a small number of officials to vote the same way as you do is successful.

National News

Representative Iferian Lokn has been seen attending several police galas and fundraisers in the past month, and appears to be a bit of a social butterfly within law enforcement circles. The people of his province are swelling with pride at their officials efforts to keep his promise of improving the police force, and see this as a good sign of things to come.

Representative Damien Thorn is being hailed nation-wide as a humanitarian and man of the people. From inoculating and reading stories to children all the way to Jumping over a tank of vicious Garan sharks in a stunning political demonstration, his voters are convinced that Thorn is the man for the job. Some private citizens have gone as far as to offer to buy the rights to use his likeness for a series of superhero comics. Thorn humbly accepted the offer.

While other representatives have been having great success at wooing the public, Representative Bridger has been less successful in his unorthodox methods of public relations. A recent series of odds included Bridger dressed up as a variety of animals such as a duck, a giraffe, and an eagle whilst loudly asserting his new slogan "Too crazy to be corrupt." Needless to say, his public have mixed feelings about these ads, and are becoming increasingly unsure of Bridger.

NEW MECHANIC - SUPPORT GROUPS

Certain groups may choose to favor one representative over another, and confer special aid and power to that person

Argue Against The Beru Heritage Act - Citing that it is going to lower any non-ethnic Berus to second class citizens, only able to use separate facilities. This directly goes against the constitutional clause of equal rights for all citizens. The act also establishes an official religion of the country, which skirts the line of breaking freedom of religion.
Argue For The Criminal Organizations Act - This bill, along with the Police Funding Bill will help keep our streets clean of filth!

Argue For Rebuilding, say that the people need clean water and food, etc. accuse other politicians of being corrupt bribe takers (make sure to say that in public)
Argue For Heritage, say that we must protect our culture, accuse Markus of wanting a return to the colonial past of Cosland lording over us. (Again, in public)
