As the title says, I am thinking of running a B12 Starcraft 2 tournament. The main problem seems to be the complete lack of Starcraft 2 players here but hopefully I am wrong about that. If I'm not wrong this will become a 1v1

It will be 1v1 Wings of Liberty (vanilla).

LOSING IS FUN

Finals will be best of 7
Semi-finals will be best of 5
Rest will best of 3

If two players are from different regions, game will be played on the server of the one who signed up first.

There will be a loser's bracket

Expansion level: Two people do not own HotS (Heart of the Swarm) so any match played against them will be played at WoL (Wings of Liberty) expansion level. This can be changed in the options menu. If both players own the expansion they can choose what they want. If players disagree -> Wings of Liberty.

We can also just make all games WoL level. If anyone prefers that please say so.

If your SC2 name is different from your Bay12 name, please say your name at the start of each match, for those who are watching the replay. Also state your current score if you can be bothered .

When a match (best of 3, 5, or 7) ends, the victor will post the results and a link to the replays in this thread. Sending a pm to me that you finished would also be appreciated.  The loser will confirm the results. No replays and the loser does not agree -> Rematch.

If you do not know how to find and upload the replays you Google it, or ask the loser to do it.

Current bracket, names not yet randomized. (Game [A] is bugged out. Will fixed after it actually is played)

Games will not start before April 12. After that each round will probably take a week.

1) At the log in screen, click the up arrow next to your Battle.net account name (e-mail). Mouse over text should be "Back To Account Entry"
2) A 'region' button should appear to the left, above the 'options' button
3) Choose either Americas or Europe
 --3b) If this is the first time to log in to this server, you can choose a new user name.
4) Go to friend > add friend > character friend. Your three number character code should appear in the bottom left of the pop up. Even if you have the same name on different servers, the code will (probably) not be the same.

Do you own Heart of the Swarm: No. I've only played the single player campaign once through and a bunch of local network skirmish games with my brothers. They're both pretty good since they actually play online and I can hold my own okay. I play a lot of RTS so I like to think I'm fairly experienced with them (from Dune to Majesty and Company of Heroes, I've played it all).

Ah, six potential players already. I will need your IDs though. If you don't know how to get them: sign in through the US or EU sever, try to add a character friend, and you should see your own ID somewhere in the menu.

If Siquo eventually also joins, this would mean we'd need 2 more players for a total of 8, which is a good number as brackets get unfair when the number of participants doesn't equal a power of 2. New players are welcome until at least April 12, as before that I am probably too busy to start this.

The level of the participants seems to be Bronze to Gold, which'll probably keep most matches from being a one-sided slaughter-fest.

ptw Partially because I might be buying sc2 soon and then i'd enter in.  Played a fucking lot of sc1 and I'd love to try no matter how scrubby I may be

Okay. I will probably start this at the end of the week because waiting much longer is probably not a good idea. You could potentially still join in the first round (winners bracket) or even the second one (loser's bracket). A round will probably last a week. That is just guessing though, I never did this before.

On Thursday I will try to add you all on both the EU and US servers. I will pm everyone now who does not have their name + character code posted yet.
