But seriously, pick a name that's meaningful to you, as in relates to something you have as a hobby, or something like that.

How I came up with my username? Well let's see..
I used to go around under a fake name, Jessica Thompson, which I ended up shortening to JessiCat because it seemed clever, but when I started using my real name (Alyssa), I didn't really want to go around as JessiCat any more, so I combined my fake name and my real name. But then wherever I went, AlliCat was already taken, so I opted for an alternate spelling.
