I got my username ages ago when I was just starting to use online accounts. I wanted something that wouldn't be taken, so I named myself after a minor character in a book I had just finished. Later I found out the actual name was Ramuthra and I had been misspelling it the whole time. It's never taken though, so I can use it for everything.

Is dat sum Bartimaeus i'm seeing here? That book was awesome, i should get the other two. c:

But seriously, I hate naming the main character. My older brother would always call them Baller or German.

I just called my character in Defiance "Hardboiled". Nobody can ever take that seriously. In fact, you have to look pretty far back to find ANY video game character with a serious name made by me. :U (notable mention going to all my chars in Mass Effect 3, who bear names such as ZÖHLCK, KÖLB and DESTROKTOLATOR)
