Clair give a look at the axe before handing it handle first to Kira.

"Just try and keep it in one piece, something about it look familiar and I don't want destroy before I find out what."

You all take the loot from the guards, passing the armor and gear amongst yourselves. You are all equipped and ready to fight. You go the nearby cells and release the prisoners. Hroki takes a key and locates Tor in a nearby cage, along with other animals, some eaten, some eating. Apparently the prisoners overheard your plans to take down the Gamma.

Thank you for saving us! We're sorry, but we won't be of much help in fighting Vorl. He is the current champion of Hir Laer. Please, take this. I hope it will be of more help to you than us," one of the prisoners said, giving you a map of Hir Laer Berg. With that, they left the prison.

However, two prisoners stayed behind. "We shall help you. I'm Yern, and this is my brother Quar. We were sent to free the prisoners, but we were captured. We are bound by honor to help you fight Vorl, and redeem our clan's name," says the older brother. He has blonde hair, with great muscles throughout his body. The younger one, however, is not blessed with such beauty.

The younger one has a third eye on his forehead, covered by dark, messy hair. His teeth, you notice, are jagged and sharp. They both leave the room to gather their equipment. They come back armed with hide shields, helmets, and battleaxes. They lead you to the exit, which you unlock with the key. As you exit, you realize that dawn is soon to break. The roof plains are vast. The sky is blocked out by large skyscrapers and tall, abandoned towers. One building, however, is taller than all. It dwarfs the already huge skyscrapers, breaking through the clouds.

"That, my friends, is Hir Laer's tower. He keeps his kidnapped children there, to eat or to turn into his Gamma."

You hear men coming down from the north, and you can make out small figures carrying lit torches. They are approaching. Using your heightened senses, you can see Vorl, bloody and battered. His men's numbers seem to have reduced from ten to four. Despite the looks of defeat, you can hear them laughing and boasting. Since they are occupying the only bridge that leads out of the roof-plains, you decide to hide in one of the abandoned shacks, waiting for Vorl and his men to come and pass by.

Just as you hide, you notice the freed prisoners come out of a hatch nearby. They do not notice Vorl coming, and they run towards his direction. His men see them first, and put out their dim lights. As the slaves near, the mutants unsheathe their weapons, and close in for the kill. The slaves bump into them, and they are slaughtered. Some attempt to flee, but they are thrown of the edge of the bridge by each other or by the mutants.

Vorl is now alert of something gone awry. His men keep their weapons unsheathed. What now?

@GM: what weapons/armor do they have, and how bloodied up are they? that will greatly affect our decisions and our characters should already know it.

also, what kind of bridge is it? concrete? rope?

and confirming, they are standing on the bridge itself, right?

Woops, forgot to add that. You manage to see at least one of them wearing fur armor. The rest are either naked or wearing rags. Vorl isn't wearing armor, due to his ego and already tough scales. They are all armed with axes and shields, except Vorl, who fights with a dagger (to him it's a dagger, but to you, it's like a shortsword.) The bridge is concrete, though weathered. All bridges in Galapagos are concrete, due t an unfortunate bridge accident that left them paranoid.

((well darn, there goes the bridge drop plan. still, no ranged weapons and no helmets? that leaves me with an interesting option or two. namely plan "drop rocks on their heads until they either run or die" and plan "be bait and make them chase me all over the place."

btw, for the future, not now, it would have been nice to be given the option to try to negotiate with the prisoners. they would have been safer escaping with us in one big group, which WAS the original plan, and i was trying to make freeing them conditional on them agreeing to work with us. also to be given a chance to warn the prisoners of Vorl, or help them fight, rather than automatically allowing them to die. automated judgement calls like those are kind of frustrating because they're often out of character for at least one member of the group.))

"Well, that looks like a problem. i can simply fly past them if i have too, but I don't want to abandon you people. does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this? a frontal assault seems like a stupid idea."

"We could stage an ambush, focusing on eliminating Vorl as quickly as possible to send the others running. Considering how they secured us, they probably don't expect powers like the ones Clair and Zerol have. If his head's frozen and his body gets a few thousand volts through it, it shouldn't be too hard to dispatch him. But this requires two things - getting close enough to him and bypassing his buddies. Maybe a distraction of some kind?"

"I don't think any have a way to attack from a distance, but..." Clair look around "Maybe a two prong attack, some of us can get behind them in time using the long way because they going so slowly now and then we attack.."

((Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to use it next time!  ;D By the way, for combat, should I hide the dice rolls or something? Because it would look nicer if I hid it. ))
((a common choice is to have all the die rolls shown in one big block at the start of the post, then the story of how the fight went told afterwards in it's own block. that way the story isn't interrupted by all the numbers, but people can still see how they rolled and why the fight went how it did.))

"A two-pronged attack is only usefull if it gives us some kind of advantage in position or bring extra numbers to bear. if we want to flank them it's easy to just advance together and split right/left since we outnumber them. splitting up makes it hard to cordinate, and we risk having to fight divided up. we'd be better off splitting them up with a decoy or two then having our main group jump them one or two at a time as needed. i can keep away from them easy but i'm not sure they would be willing to chase me. it's just too obvious that i could fly away anytime, me baiting them would be a lot like screaming that we have a trap waiting for them. but i'm willing to try, and there is a similar risk for any other bait being figured out anyway. or heck, if they refuse to chase me, we could herd them by having me bait them to where we want them to NOT go.

I'd still love to hear any other ideas though. i'm not sure how to make this work."

Erin examines the map, looking for good locations to set traps, potental deadends, and otherwise tries to memorize the nearby area for later.

((I've updated things in the first page about combat. You might want to check it out. I'll be using the DnD dice roller online. By the way, are the rules too complicated?))

Please roll to see if you manage to memorize them in time. (1d3, +Int vs 3)

If you want, you can do a Search roll to look for traps. (1d6, +Int vs 4)

((Am I doing it wrong? I haven't seen many GMs do this, except in DnD.))

((in time? what's the time pressure from? I didn't know they were moving. are they moving on, away from the bridge? or are they staying still at the chokepoint, searching for threats? i've been assuming the second option.

btw, kira has the axe, it doesn't show in people's inventories))

((The mutants are moving towards their base, and you are hiding in the shack next to it. I'll be more clear next time. Their slaves just broke out, and they were heading home anyways, so they're going your direction. They're moving slowly, though. This is my problem with writing, I always miss out something important or don't describe something I need to.  :())

((Question, can you tell us the locations we know so far? 'Cause I'm kinda confused on where everything is at right now.))

"I don't mind being bait... they are sure to think of me as an easy target since I'm not that strong looking. All I have to do is act lost, weak, and afraid when they spot me. They'd be like vultures to a freshly dead corpse."

Zerol offers to be the bait. He's the perfect fit to get stupid people obsessed with strength to chase after. Though he thinks he'd be safe enough, being good at avoiding danger. Plus his wounds heal fast and has some armor if things get rough.

((Alright, I'll describe Galapagos city as best as I can.))

Spoiler: Hir Uwe Hav (click to show/hide)

Woops, I have to leave soon. I'll finish this up later. Anyways, to Mr. Zero: You have escaped (and brought Tor with you) and freed the prisoners. Coming with you are two warriors who wish to redeem themselves. As you went out, you spotted your captors. You hid (and are now currently in) a shack. The prisoners escaped another way, but were spotted by the mutants, and killed. Now, you must fight the mutants and leave safely.
