((I'd pester the GM on those notes as I'm really aware of the use of every other organ - nutritionally...but then, who'd want to eat fingers O_o

Spleens, though...))

"Also, I...just think we've got fifty fingers in payment from Yern. Does anyone know why we're only paying in fingers? I've heard the hands, feet and...heart hold the same (higher) value, but only those. Why not arms? Legs...and other stuff?"

Kira rocked on her heels before adding, "That wasn't how we did things in our area..."

((Yeah, aren't fingers just skin, bone and ligaments?

But I believe that most organs are ignored because the GM doesn't want to bother with remembering whether we stole the pancreas off a corpse or not and the monetary implications of this.))

((Ugh, hell no D:

Organs shrivel up and turn...an ugly shade when dehydrated. Salting them...or the other viscera isn't...Well, just trust me on this that it ain't pretty. I've seen them close up. Stupid course :P :S

Drying or smoking possible foodstuffs is a better option. And yes fingers aren't meaty enough for food, unless you want the calcium. Phalanges and all that.

I believe only the heart has focus because it has a certain symbolism everyone believes in - that as in past times people believed the heart to be the focus of the person's soul and not the mind, unlike what we now know. :P Also, cardiac muscles are best muscles. ;P))

((I'm glad that you like the story so far. I didn't want to use more organs 'cause I couldn't be bothered with all the values and stuff. But yeah, people actually use other body parts as money. You could say their old family house cost them an "arm and a leg".  :P I'm going back to school tomorrow, so I can't post turns. I'll still be able to post and answer questions if you have any. I'll be able to post on Fridays, and weekends. I just hope it doesn't die like the other game when I left for school.  ::) ))

[Sorry Tiruin, mind is set. Traveling salt salesman! Or rather someone trying to find a large enough, and efficient enough way to harvest salt, then sell it. It wouldn't be that grand on the 'money' but never meant for it to be such, rather it would be good for preserving meat. For, you know, eating. Which is as good as 'cash.'

"Do you have any fingers to buy this with?" "No sir, can't say I do, but I do however have this nice slab of salted meat! Sure to put some meat on your bones!"]

((@Tsuchi: I really believe against using Photosynthesis as a means to bring fire :P Because...the process in which photosynthesis goes, the components for fire is...not that viable. I believe some kind of gland or organ/storage area for nitrogen or gaseous components as opposed to starch/ plant-based food products is better. Because you're using combustion on food. Also, lack of chloroplasts, or perhaps red chloroplasts. Heh :P Also, your username rings a bell along the lines of Japanese mythology/folklore. Like Yokai (spelled as pronounced, forgot the correct spelling :/)?

Edit: Photosynthesis-like. That works...in a relativistic way. Didn't read it that way XD Pretty interesting using chemical energy...to melt steel. :P [I mean, damn hot. Must some kind of synthesis reaction given you're using solar energy for that. But interesting nonetheless. Speaking in game-mechanics, it must be an emergency power-use thing, right?]

@Xan: D:

Either head to seashores, then establish a small plot, roughly with a linear wall facing against the flow of the tide and with an incline close to the 180th degree. Also, salted anything demands more water.  :P

But enough of my rambling, let the game commence! Or as we're on an OOC train, let's just continue till the next turn as it seems nobody wants to reply to poor ol' me. I mean Kira.

EditII: Darn I use too many smileys :/))

[I could try to get a mine going... But it may be too soon, too post-apocalyptic for that to be reasonable for right now. Not even thinking of the start up costs. The seashore one would probably be the most efficient and plausible.

What I was thinking was that, with people resorting to cannibalism, with bringing about more salted food products, it would promote longer life of food, thus the ability to store amounts for extended amounts of time, eventually bringing about a move away from such things as cannibalism during times of need, starvation, and so such. You always gotta start with food when you have to bring society up on its feet by the boot straps. The salting method is simply the most well known one to me, with others being drying/smoking meat. I can only guess that the ground must be terrible if farm lands aren't much of a thing, due to the whole cannibalism thing, which is a problem since I assume that food must also be rather scarce due to the previously mentioned 'cash' system.]

((Really good point there. Just to note ahead of time for your health. Salted food is not one towards a healthy/longer lifestyle. While you do have food, the lack of water is the primary concern. You can live a long time without food, but in the absence of water...you'd die. You do need water to digest food, and to sweat And your body is made up of 70%+ water...and all that.))

[So, salted food if salt is available, but smoked food if sufficient wood is available, and dried food preferred over salted. Only problem with dried and smoked is that I imagine it takes a tad longer for the process to happen, and possibly some special facilities. A smoke house for one, which may not be possible, and spare wood which may also not be possible due to what I imagine a lack of vegetation if farming isn't a thing. Not sure about the dried food however... Like I said, I was most familiar with using salt to preserve food.

But yeah, its a case of "starve or be unhealthy" kind of thing here. Which if farming isn't a thing, probably by and large excludes the latter due to only meat being available for foodstuffs.]

((why are you going all biology on tsuchi when i have wings that let me fly and carry the weight of another human being? tsuchi's ability is FAR closer to within the laws of physics and chemisty than mine. leave the poor firebreather alone :P))

((also, farming reduces the number of trees available. not increases it. lack of farming means lumber is more likely to be available, not less.))

The artwork relates to the encasing of the HMRC in metal by Pancaek during the Mission of Many People.))

[But if the soil is so terrible that even trees don't grow, that would exclude both, no? The only reason I can assume that farming isn't being done currently is that it can't be done because of lack of either space, which can be solved by moving although it could be impractical to move which would be rather bad and put them in a bind. Soil issues, which can't be so readily solved. Or people don't know how to farm, but I kind of doubt that. If space were the issue, I would doubt there would be much lumber either...

But all in all this is all guestimation and approximations from what I assume would be logical to people, which isn't always the case admit-ably. People don't tend to much like to do much else if they can't get food but can solve that.]
