HOA Board Duty
« on: March 29, 2013, 06:35:02 pm »

Our HOA recently desperately needed someone to fill an empty slot.  I thought of mentioning to them that I played DF, but I figured it wouldn't mean much to most of my neighbors.  Surely one would sound the alarm, but they'd probably look like Urist McCrazypants.  Long story short: I stayed quiet, but stepped forward.

Has anyone else here gone against their better judgment and served on an HOA board?  Did you find yourself advocating for zany projects within the first month?  I thought my first megaproject would be to divert water from the creek for watering our landscaping, but I have a much more ambitious IT project that's quickly overtaking it on my priority list.

Trying to figure out if we have critical mass for a support group.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

Ooh. Homeowner's association. That... makes that post explicable. Msi's asking if there's any other DF players on homeowner association boards and if their DF tendencies extended toward it, with an eye toward potentially forming a group or discussion on ways to curb or usefully channel those urges in real life. I think, anyway.

If you're actually on an HOA board just don't be an enormous jackass, that's really all that's needed.

Real-life dwarfy shenanigans cost more social, temporal, and moral capital than any healthy sapient being is willing to spend. You will succeed only in getting kicked off the board.

As your first decision you should mandate production of cat bone bracelets.

Technically there's no need to ever communicate directly with another human.
