Also, do you have trouble spelling?  I forgot to ask about that.  If you do, then you should try crossword puzzles--my mom does those pretty much constantly and they've helped her so, so much.

I picked Option 3. Go Option 3!

I don't know about fast-reading but I can give you some hints about writing. Disable the spell checker and when you aren't sure if you have spelled a word right or wrong, Google it. I learned the correct way to spell most words (English isn't not my native language) this way.

Also, making a conscious effort at spelling helps, you know. It's easy to just write every word the way you pronounce it but you just have to give it some attention.

I don't know if Dyslexia has an effect on reading too, probably does, try not to worry too much and do your best.

Hello, fellow dyslexic person! When I was in 8th grade, I went to a dyslexia-fixing class every morning before school started. They taught me the following things to help with dyslexia:

1. If you are having trouble focusing on specific words and your eyes jump around the page, put a piece of blue film over the page and hold a ruler under the line you are trying to read. This makes your brain pay attention to the words differently and hopefully not screw things up. I'm not sure why it has to be blue film; the teacher was not especially clear about this and since I didn't have that problem I never really asked.

2. If you have trouble reading/writing specific letters (this was my problem; p, b, d and q all looked the same to me) replace those letters with letters from a different alphabet (anything with all the same sounds but different shapes) when writing first drafts (futhark works best for me, since peorth, beorc, daeg and cen look nothing alike unlike pbdq in english) and then translate the final draft into something other people can read.

3. If you have trouble confusing words that look the same (this seems to be you!) read them out loud and sound them out. Get flash cards and practice those words. Eventually, the "ular" and the end of "particular" will stand out from the "le" at the end of "particle" and the fact that they both start with "partic" will stop being noticed. It is very important to say them outloud, since the sounds of the words are much more different than the shapes of the words are.

A very specific combination of blue and white is extremely memorable.

What.

One time, I put blue text on an off-white background, and everybody in class remembered what I wrote down.

200% better than usual.

Yeah, I've actually heard the "print stuff on colored paper" to help dyslexic folks before.

Also, for the distant future, apparently if you have kids and stage an early intervention, really working on them to learn how to read, then the effects can be seriously reduced.  That is probably the reason why I am not as dyslexic as my mom (I have problems with seeing two sides of a symmetrical object as literally the same side, mixing up p, b, d, and q, and worst of all have a doozy of a time figuring out the difference between 3 and epsilon [this is an issue because I'm a math major], but otherwise I'm okay).  Anyway, that seems to have really helped.

I have the opposite issue, I can read just fine. But my letters come out badly misshaped, in the wrong order, sideways or rarely upside down while writing.

Having keyboards, spell checking and and the ability to edit in place on a screen have done wonders for me, I cant get my letters upside down without looking up obscure Unicode sequences.
