Note that you have other options besides the crazy old woman for a 4th party member - relatively early on you'll unlock a room in that "End of Time" place where you can recruit a range of henchmen.  The only real difference between them and Jahan/Madora are that they don't have any quests associated with them and they don't speak up the way those two do.

I don't think any of those games are canon with this one...or with eachother...

Divinity certainly has female orcs. They have sexy tails, and they purr like kittens~

Perhaps they're just a rare breed of (still-male) orc?

If you like that, have I got some Japanese products to sell you.

No they are female orcs in Divinity, they are rare, and not really seen in warpacks by the time of Divine Divinity, but the orcs are a species that breeds sexually rather than asexually.

Divinity works best if you don't question it. MST3K mantra helps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcUkKltAidM

I warn every friend I have that Divinity games generally only survive on their good gameplay, and their premise, and if you don't like the gameplay style or the premise the games are likely ruined for you. The other way to ruin them, is to start questioning things. "Why is Aleroth now on top of a mountain?" Or, "Why can't I just turn into a dragon and melt all the ground troops?" things like that.

Stellar moment last night, playing through this with a bay12er who I hang out with all the time. He had just bought the game, we spent like 5 hours straight just playing and then stopped for like 2 and played for another 5, and I managed to solve one of the puzzles that I hadn't seen before. Normally the other guy is smarter with puzzles than me. What amazes me is that even in the noob area around Cyceal I'm still finding new stuff. The whole game seems to be jam packed with content. And it also amazes me that I'm still failing to complete the main story quest without

My experience with this game so far:

One character talks to an NPC, while the other goes around the entire house stealing every single painting from the walls.

Say goodbye, and onto the next house to steal more paintings.

I have SO MANY PAINTINGS in my inventory and they are so valuable, I can't see myself ever running out of money to buy stuff. It's good to be a dirty rotten thief. :3

I once shot a bear in the eye with a bow on the first shot, cut it up, found another one, and shot it in the eye too. The collective pile of meat weighed more than my house.

You will, there's a gold sink later, that takes about 25k gold from you every level if you choose to use it.

How's dem mods?
As with most of these games, they're working on patching the game, and then patching the toolset, which is still pretty buggy and crashy, and not all that suitable to big mods yet. However, I'm betting we'll see remakes of other famous turnbased and RTwP games done by modders eventually, which will be interesting.

I personally want to see Icewind Dale done in this engine, and may take steps to do it myself. Icewind Dale was my first RPG in the top down style, and my second RPG overall, after Daggerfall.

How much better will this game get with patches, is it particularly buggy or unbalanced? I think I'd like it but I'd rather put it off if I'd like it more in the future.

The game is perfectly fine as it is. From what I can see, it's mostly the toolset that has problems but most of us won't even touch that.

First off, Divinity is not Warhammer 40k nor NWN. Second, there ARE female orcs in NWN. Well, half-orcs, at least.

There are female orcs in all those settings.

Tis a joke about how often you fight or have a playable party member that is one.

Just reached an area with sandstorms and lots of spiders who like to teleport and spray acid all over my party. The sandstorm keeps my entire party constantly slowed, and lowers their accuracy. I'm able to win fights pretty consistently, but it just takes forever with half my party constantly trying to out-heal the poison, and the other half missing half of their attacks.

On a related note, has anyone ever successfully landed Rapture? Every time I use it it fails...
