Rabbit is quite good, but there's plenty of bones, and not a lot to eat.

I'm amazed that lamb is a 'rare' meat. I probably eat more lamb than I do beef.

Beef is rare thing around in my family.

Chicken and fish. We have that almost everyday.

I've never had lamb, I don't think I've been to a restaurant that serves it, and I don't think I've ever seen it for purchase in a grocery store.

Lamb? Rare? You gotta be kidding me!

It is possibly the best standard meat. It is pretty expensive compared to beef or pork, but cooks so much better. It is more tender, with a better texture, and a taste like nothing else. It can be a bit tough if badly (or over) cooked, and cheap cuts can be very fatty.

I'd have to agree, lamb is not a "rare" meat. However it would depend upon where you live and how easy it is to get the meat. I prefer the cheaper cuts the next day when the fats solidified a little more and I absolutely love lamb cutlets with a passion.

To be fair, you live in Wales, and I Australia. A lot of these poor Yanks don't know what they're missing.

I'd have to agree; but it also works both ways.

I once ate Kangaroo Testicles. Not while on the 'roo, of course. It was years ago, but from what I remember, it was basically like ye olde meatballs. Mix them up with some spaghetti and you have a gourmet meal.

Other than that, the most out of the ordinary (but not rare) meats I've eaten would be turkey, which tastes like saltier, easier to chew ham (and apparently it's really good for you), and home-kill cattle, including all the little bits and pieces. The taste depends on how the cattle were raised, but one of our kills fed on its mothers milk throughout its short life. Best beef I've ever had, but her mothers milk was disgusting beyond belief and made me thing I was lactose intolerant for days.

If you live near Islamic communities lamb is often readily available. You know, I've had a lot of lamb - one of my favourite meats if it's cooked right - but I've never eaten mutton.

I eat a lot of shoarma, which is sheep, perhaps even lamb, but never anything else sheep-related.

Jamacian goat curry is quite special (with a side of Red Stripe), but my time in Jamacia is quite... "hazy".

Mutton seems to be a lot more common in the UK than the US. Barely anyone around here has even tried it. It's probably because woolly sheep are a traditional livestock for the British isles. Whereas over here it mostly just seems to be cows, cows, cows, and pigs.

I've had Lamb and MAYBE rabit.
Why did I read that as "I ate something that might have been rabbit, but I'm not really sure."?

Mm, lamb isn't rare in the States either, unless perhaps if you live somewhere without a single Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, or Indian restaurant and only a bare-bones grocery. It's also everything that beef wishes it was.
