What would have happened (mechanically and flavor-ly) if all the teals were lit?

Totally. I know I missed a ton of stuff.

Way too many rules. Fun to figure out, actually. I love this stuff, and I did figure it out by the end.

It was probably way too simple, and the hints were way too vague. It ended up with most of the threats being imaginary. We were all lashing out at paper tigers created from our OWN imagination.

Snuffing the greens just didn't feel right. Part of the problem was that very few things were confirmed in the public eye, and so it was REALLY hard to get everyone on the same page. Nobody, and I mean nobody was in possession of all the information at any point in time (except MAYBE Tiruin).

What would have happened (mechanically and flavor-ly) if all the teals were lit?
I REALLY want to know the answer to this as well.

Though I suspect the effect would have been that the temple would have crumbled once the truth was known and everyone realized the gods we were worshipping were false. Or heck, divine retribution.

Of course there was no cult! But by the end of the last day, I was ready to believe it just because of how hard it was to talk to Solifuge.

Vector has a PM-day talk ;_;

Maybe because you were flailing and focusing on faults instead of convincing. While I do agree with how he marked your faults (I had a whole 30 minutes of it darn'it..), you..lacked points which were imperative to convincing him. Mostly by what you've missed.

Yeah, you're right. I couldn't see a path to convincing him, though. I spent hours hunting for details I'd missed. But I needed someone else to point out what I was missing. Dariush finally did that for me at the end, and THAT is what finally allowed me to figure it out.

This game was mostly a glorious exercise in miscommunication and paranoia. It is beautiful in it's own horrific way, and I am honored to have taken my part in it.

I have to repost this here:

Also, having finished reading The Great Temple, I can't shake the feeling that the whole thing was nothing more than a good ol game of Fronthand Backhand.

Hooray, another Meph game where I didn't get any even remotely interesting powers. Do you still hate me for making a mess out of Bastard Paranormal 1 or something? :(

Hard timer after which everyone loses is just bullshit. You should have buffed the scumteam over the course of the game, but not this. :-/

Everyone who thought there was a cult, you're idiots.

Everyone who lynched ZU, you're idiots.

Ottofar, you're an idiot for claiming the scummiest ability possible.

NQT... I have no words. May this gif express my opinion of you.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And Wuba, you're just a stupid asshole and I don't want to ever play with you again. Fuck you. And this is not because you went undetected until the end, this is because you shat on everyone including Meph and quit.

Overall, a really good game, though the timer rather soured it. I mean, you could have at least had a doomspeaker who won in seven days. Still would be more fair.

Edit: wow, I just read the scumchat. And my opinion of Wuba dropped even further. Huh, I thought that wouldn't be possible.

Edit2: by the way, Soli, what was the whole business about 'YOU ARE ABOUT TO LOSE'? I don't see it in the night list.

And Meph, those have got to be the most unhelpful hints ever. How is 'Greens are your path to victory' even remotely relevant? o_0

So, I think now that this is over I can post here.
Just saying, put of all the mafia games I've read, and I've read about 10 or 15, that was the weirdest scumchat I've seen, ever.
EVER.

You are in grave danger of losing.

Was given during the day, which is probably why it wasn't shown on the night posts. Still not sure what it was about.

I did enjoy the game. Actual post-mortem coming later.

Also, I think there's a pattern here. I always make the wrong decision on the last day. Always. Three chances and three failures, with a fifty-fifty chance every time. Either Tiruin is better than I thought, or I have absolutely zero luck.
What is this supposed to mean.
It means I have yet to succeed on the last day. Twice it was when you were scum, so if you were just far better than expected/believed, then it would be easier to believe one fifty-fifty was blown.

Edit: wow, I just read the scumchat. And my opinion of Wuba dropped even further. Huh, I thought that wouldn't be possible.
Strangely I just found a lot of it amusing.

Watching him collapse into a frothing incoherent rage was surprisingly cathartic.

Ottofar gets credit for guessing what do to on the eleventh post of scumchat.

What would have happened (mechanically and flavor-ly) if all the teals were lit?

Okami/ZU would have won, everyone else would have lost. Flavor-wise, you'd have all quit the temple and become his disciples as he wandered around preaching about the True Gods. So not so much a loss flavor-wise, just mechanically.

I think the primary reason for the massive overthinking in this game was that your previous two bastards were lost because the players were underthinking.

That's at least why I kept looking for threats.
