Forgive me for my lowering of the brow, but Australia is actually Danny Nalliah's name for his penis.

No see it was clearly the Muslims, on the basis that they are all terrorists.
Clearly anybody wearing face covering has something to hide, because tolerance be dammed, right? Freedom of religion means you respect me and I fuck you.

I'm going to assume the sarcasm was blatant enough.

Yes, it was. It's all good, Max.

The two people were whining about those 'darn liberal socialists'.

I have always wanted to go up to these people and refer to myself as a black gay Muslim socialist immigrant and watch them run away in fear and terror.

Guilt by association frustrates me to no end. Its completely invalid but its so effective.

I'm actually considering moving to Australia if I manage to trick your government into letting me in, but this Australia First thing is scaring me. How widespread is it, are they as much anti-Croat as they are against all the other immigrants, and do they have venom glands?

They are a pretty tiny, pretty viable problem. They have never won a seat in any electorate and most likely never will. Our right wing party is even willing to dismiss them at nut jobs. Still, they exist.

They seemed to like me, which was strange. I'm very... left. I suppose it's because I look like a hitler youth; pale skin and blue eyes.

Almost nothing. They're only just starting now, and they're farcical; Max is right, even our right wing (the Liberals) will not talk to them. We have a sizable Croatian population down south in Victoria; I grew up in an area that was very heterogenous, with besides generic Anglo-Australians, we had lots of others: indians, sri lankans, pakistani, ethiopian, serbian, croatian, bosnian, ukrainian and there was nearly no issues.

They'd have about as much chance of winning an Australian election as the Australian Pirate Party.

Can't say I'm too fussed either way. My interests begin and end with homo sapiens.

I actually don't understand the implications of that statement. Could you elaborate?

I must admit, I'm not a fan of Sea Shepherd.
Their goal? Great!
Their method of doing it... not so great.
Their management? Very, very not-great.

...but that's an issue for another thread, another day.

Shitty. Sea Shepherd are nothing but pirates; what they're doing to the Japanese whaling ship is defined as piracy internationally, and the Japanese ships are allowed to defend themselves.

They have good intentions, yes, but surely considering most of the whaling is taking place in Australian waters, the government simply says 'No fishing in our waters, Japan.' Much simpler than a bunch of eco-pirates harrassing people working.

Basically that any political position dealing with animal rights, animal cruelty, humane treatment of animals etc. is not relevant to my interests and won't make me any more or less inclined to think favorably of the political party making the statement. I'm purely interested in their position on matters relating to humans.

Have to say i'm against growth. Just because a lot of countries are less densely populated than Australia, that does not mean that those countries are the ideal. Hell, I think the country is already too populated as it is, our cities are huge, our national parks and open spaces etc are becoming more and more overcrowded etc.

I have to agree too; while we are a good country to live in, until we have food issues and desert reclamation ironed out, our population does need to be rather low.
