That would require the Japanese to comply.
They are already breaking our laws by whaling in waters we claim, and have declared as sanctuaries. Why would they cooperate and take customs officials on board? The only reason they get away with what they are now is because the government can't be bothered to protect our sovereignty from commercial gain when those ships are needed to protect us from refugees.

So in news that's about actual Australian citizens:

Builders, plumbers, electricians face police background checks in Queensland Government's war on bikies

Congratulations. If you are or have ever been associated with a motorcycle club on the government blacklist, you can expect your ability to ever have a job taken away from you. After all, they're all criminals, so why should we let them do honest work?

The best part about the Vicious Lawless Associations Disestablishment Bill is that it can be modified to fit the annoying anti-government agenda group of your choice.

Don't like those noisy hippies that protest about letting the brown people in boats into the country? Classify them as a lawless association and presto! It's illegal for them to meet together or even hold down a job in the state. After all, we're at war with the people smugglers, so anyone on their side is a criminal by definition.

Really, it's an impressive piece of legislation.

Yea, it is total bullshit... What are you going to do about it? The LNP controls 74 out of 89 seats. It is going to take a colossal swing to ever actually see that law repealed, and frankly I don't think the people of Queensland are informed enough voters to pull it off. I have no doubt there will be a swing against them, but it is going to take about a 10% pull in most seats to make any change.

Your only hope is lawyers striking it down in court.

Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment Bill 2013

Here's the document itself in all it's glory. Go on, have a read. See what it defines as a vicious lawless association:

Section 3, association paragraph (d) - any other group of 3 or more persons by whatever name called, whether associated formally or informally and whether the group is legal or illegal.

So if you have a group of three or more people, you can be tried as a vicious lawless association. However, this is only if you commit an offense.

Of course, the offenses are any offense prescribed under a regulation to be a declared offense (Section 3, declared offense paragraph (b)) such as unlawful assembly, so you can basically arrest anyone you like and lock them up with a mandatory 15 years jail time (section 7, paragraph 1(b)).

Seriously, I'm impressed. I gotta get someone to figure out how to use this against all the groups I don't like.

Your parliament is some kind of assembly of more than three people, is it not? I'm just saying.

Using it against political parties would be pretty interesting. Formal group with a members list and everything, making association easy to prove, and they are all big enough to have somebody in there that has broken some law, be it corporate fraud, eco vandalism, or being too drunk and getting in a bar brawl.
I think the idea here is to try and bring Orwell into a rage induced state of undeath. Have fun up there, Queensland...

Yea, Palmer is 50 shades of insane.

Back to news about people that aren't Australian citizens.
Bomb threat from an asylum seeker on their way to Christmas Island. Considering that they are searched from the moment they are picked up, there is no way that would have ever actually smuggled a bomb onto the plane, as such this looks a lot more like one guy made an angry comment and is now being made an example of for political reasons. No better way to scare the populas into compliance than terrorist threats! Bush did it, and now Abbott is doing it.
The more interesting news there was of the hunger strikes and people sewing their lips shut. Mr Morrison has absolutely no cause to not give comment here, except that doesn't seem to care much for Australians right to be informed voters.

Sometimes I think life would be so much better if instead of Queensland joining up in federation we got New Zealand instead... What happened to you QLD? Where did you go wrong?

Today in: Max Whites war on the war on refugees.
Australia says sorry for illegally breaching Indonesians boarders, but don't worry, it wasn't the governments fault! Apparently the crew was just incompetent! You know, the same crew we have been reassured over and over are highly trained professionals and can be trusted to act in an ethical way even when witnesses say otherwise? Yea, those guys.
In the mean time, it has been confirmed that the Australian Navy has procured twelve large, solid hull life boats. Leaks suggest these boats are going to be supplied to crew of peoples smuggler vessels whose boats are unseaworthy so we can safely escort them to Indonesia, an highly illegal act under Indonesian law. No Australia, you are the people smugglers.

In the meantime, four refugees have attempted suicide while others resort to self harm, Morrison continues to refuse to comment on the basis that it will shit all over his reputation we don't need to know.
