Silverchanted - A Lead Chain Leggings
« on: March 24, 2013, 04:20:35 am »

So, my first mood after my year-long hiatus from this delicious game was an armorsmith who created some Lead Chain leggings.

How good should these stand up to invaders ? I looked at the Metal page on dfWiki, but didn't see any sort of statistics on Lead.

Thoughts ? :]

Not terribly good compared to most all other metals. I suppose you could give it to Dwarves who've committed some crime as a burden.

My trade depot is set to flood with water at the pull of a lever.  It's deep in the tunnels with easy drainage.  I call it my "water for goods" trading policy.

It might be better than expected, DF promotes dense materials currently. Unfortunately, its weight might be of disadvantage here...

sounds like it would be perfect for an adventurer to use as a weapon...

Terrible. The high density means the dwarf wearing it will have trouble moving around and unlike weapons and possible gauntlets and boots you don't get any benefits from high density leggings. Lead also has the lowest shear yield and shear fracture of all the metals in the game, so weapons out of every material can cut through them without trouble.
It is actually better to not wear leggings at all.

They're excellent if your enemies are armed with wooden sticks, the deflection modifiers will serve you well. If they have literally anything else then you might as well be naked.

Give it to your hammerer. A pair of lead pants will ensure that his victims have enough time to get sufficiently covered if a noble doesn't get those precious crowns he wanted.

^ This.  Combine with an artifact feather wood hammer for best results.

But the name is bitchin'! I can imagine it on some pimp dwarf. Hopefully it is decorated with loads of gems.
