Out of curiosity, though: is there anything I'm missing? I've done the "Wave 1" about 25 times now and am never going to get 25000 Fruit. I've gotten all the unlockable upgrades up until now, too.

When i played this a few month ago after some website mentionned it i didn't really understood why people were that enthousiastic about that game, it felt a bit boring and very repetitive to me.

Until by some point i just

If i remember well

There's a machine in the room you find the wire and can
look at the machine, there's a platform on which you will put the can
notice how there's a paper "out of order", remove the paper you will see the control panel.

more if you're stuck after that

look at the control panel, there's a button and a level, set the button to the "mom" selection and push the lever to fill the can with goop
That should be usefull for the sleeping pod lack of "perfume"

This one took me an insane amount of time to see, reminding me how much i always hated those text adventures when i was young with their limited vocabulary and exact action you needed to do.
At the machine when you remove the paper and see the control panel, look closely there's more than the control panel that you can see, there's something else that you can take (i don't remember exactly what it was) and with this you can isolate the wires
