I updated the OP with a Lore section at the bottom, since its begun piling up. Its incomplete, so I would really appreciate it if someone could go through the thread so far with a fine tooth comb and collect everything that sounds important and shoot it to me in a PM. Just stuff about culture, the world, the people and especially tech and the knights.

Thanks.

EDIT: Also, are you guys saying you want to wait an hour until the next shift change, because you're right at the start of one right now.

I'd really rather just go get the other squads.  What purpose would killing off the sentries achieve?  It's not like we're trying to sneak into the camp to kill anyone and I doubt it would particularly help us later on when we arrive with full force.

Gun:  I wouldn't mind helping gather together the lore but it's not something I could get around to right away.

Thats fine. Just throwing it out there in case any kind souls felt the inclination. It would help me maintain the plot's direction and create some more potent conflicts and situations, but it certainly isn't necessary for me to keep putting up turns.

Killing the sentries will allow us to look more in depth at their camp whilst being relatively unimpeded.

You utter a low whistle to alert the archers hiding in the grass twenty meters off behind you that you're about to make a move. You can sense them preparing their bows in case you miss and need to fall back in a hurry.

You slip a throwing knife from one of the scabbards strapped to your chest and crawl closer to the sentry. You wait patiently for an opening. Minutes pass. He turns his head slightly to scratch beneath his chin and you come up into a low crouch, releasing the blade with a smooth extension of the arm and a calculated flick of the wrist. It drives home, sinking into his throat. The guard's eyes grow wide with surprise and he emits a low, coughing gurgle and staggers backwards. He lets his spear clatter to the dirt and clutches desperately at the leather handle protruding from the spurting wound in his neck. He crumples to the ground, a pool of blood forming where he fell. You drag him out of sight and jerk your knife from his neck, wiping it on his stained wool tunic and replacing it in its scabbard. You stand and walk towards the camp, kicking the dead guard's spear into the tall grass and striding purposefully towards the nearest tent.

You press against the thick cloth, hoping that no one saw the guard fall. The low chatter of voices all around you remains subdued, and you let out a small sigh of relief. You creep between the lines of tents, slinking past groups of soldiers drinking and playing cards and dodging the servants as they bustle about, carrying buckets of water and reels of wood. As you near the centre of the camp the number of soldiers dwindles, and you see no more servants wandering about. You move more quickly and soon you reach a small clearing of ground. A large tent lies in the centre of the clearing, its walls high, though not enough to permit it to be seen from the edge of camp, and its perimeter more than a dozen feet in length on each side. No guards stand at the entrance, and the flap leading to the outside is held open by a leather thong.

Just retreat. Our mission's just to scout out, and we've likely already completed this goal- Rough estimate of tent number & men milling about is fair enough, (a few dozen men, a dozen tents), composition seems to be irregulars, basically state-sponsored bandits (corsairs anyone?), they're relaxed & not expecting a fight/minimal security, no traps/fortifications. That's all we came for, that's what we got, let the gauntlet be a surprise, instead of tipping them off with a dead guard.
Old refreshed page. Let's see..

Well, since we've already made our presence known, (on an undetermined timer..), we could go for bonus points by killing the commander/grabbing documents, or we could cut & run. We've already gone beyond what our orders were, and the commander may or may not take that well.

The smart thing to do is just get outta there, high-tail it back to camp and give the commander the report, but we've already come this far and sacrificed a bit so-- get a good look into the tent, sneaky-like.

I'm being consistently outvoted, so I figured I'd just let things go where ever they go.

Anyway, despite my hesitance to give away our position before, at this point we're already at the tent... I guess we might as well check it out.

Edit:  Oh and I still plan to help gather together that lore for you but it definitely won't happen until the weekend, I'm crazy busy.

It doesn't matter when it happens, as long as it gets done.
Once again, thanks for taking it upon yourself to help me out. :)

One question: stick your head through the flap, or peek under the edge of the tent?

Oh, thought it was open- figured we could sneak around so that we had a view of the inside. Depends on how taut the fabric is- peak under a side if it's loose, peak through the flap if it's taut. Otherwise trying to peak under will make the whole freakin wall move.
