You hand the merchant a thousand silvers and he motions for his servants to fit the suit upon you. You give them 10 silvers to have them wash you first, and they agree happily, leading you into the merchant's abode and giving you a hot bath. Feeling quite refreshed, you have them start placing the pieces onto your limbs and chest. Its much lighter than it looks, meaning that it weighs only slightly less than the mountain it was carved from. They finish tying the straps and fastening the clasps, and you thank the merchant before heading further into town to seek some fitting weaponry.

You pass several stalls peddling common weaponry before finally meeting an honourable soul, a retired knight selling his collection of arms, all trophies from his many victories in single combat. The selection is vast, though he admits most of the better blades have already been taken, and he asks what sort of weapon you might be looking for in particular.

Ask to see his collection of shields, and blades suitable for one-handed use. Also ask about self-loading or auto-loading crossbows.

After we choose one, we should go searching for a mount suited to us. If there are knights as big as we, there should be steeds of some sort. Biological or otherwise.

Gray Blades knights can't ride horses. None of them (the horses) are big enough. I just decided that all Gray Blades are bigger than other people. I have yet to come up with a lore reason explaining that though. Perhaps I'll just trash the whole 'knights are giants' deal. They're starting to sound too much like Spess Mehrens.

Why bother with shields when we're wearing a mountain, (D: that weight).
Just go for a halberd, claymore or battle axe, ask about crossbows, (likely expensive), and see if he has anything throwable.
Preffered: claymore & a satchel of javelins.

Noooo, giants are fun! We only sound like spess marines if we're only slightly above normal-sized and wearing mountains. From how we treat weapons, we're at-least 10' tall.
-just make the grey-blades, (being a merc organization), be mostly knights- knights are just big ol perfectly-formed mutants, so skilled knights are to merc organizations what skilled black people are to the NBA. Yes I'm calling black people big ol perfectly-formed mutants.

I say we go with dual swords, if we're gonna have armor that makes us slow a walking hill or small mountain then lets be able to kill as many things as possible via a whirlwind of death.

Space Marines need more than size and heavy armor. When they start using crazy weapons and killing heretics, you may have a point, but we're not there yet.

As for lore, there's many possibilities, from magical blessings to giant heritage.

Dual swords would take a lot of movement- slow powerful strikes would go better with heavy armor than many quick ones.
using crazy weapons
Might not be too far-off...

We need a shield. We're slow; people with crushing weapons might get to the side of us and blow through our armor. We can't rely on it. I'd like a polearm, that's true, a nice halberd would be excellent, but I also think we need a shield to stop blows from reaching our armor. Maybe not to deal with archers, but still. We should at least see what there is for shields and one-handers.

Ok mr. invincible, lets look at old uncle sword & boring. Though I substitute the sword with a warhammer or flail.
Lets look at shields, one-handers, sheath-able 2handers, & ranged weapons. Tell him we're not sure- ask for a overview of what he has, price ranges tour.

Boring but alive.

Flail would be nice, but we need a variety. A flail is slow, due to the wind-up it requires. Effective, sure, but there's a reason that flails, far easier to make than swords, weren't the principal weapon of the middle ages.
At some point, I'd like a shield, preferably one 2/3 as tall as us, a one-handed sword, a halberd, a flail, some throwing axes(maybe a mechanism to throw them?) and a crossbow. After all, what happens when we fight someone in Gantinite? The flail will be handy then, the throwing axes will let us do something before he gets close, and a shield will hopefully diminish anything he has to offer against us.

Swords were only a staple until full-plate armor, then it all switched to blunt weapons, big weapons, and pointy weapons to exploit weaknesses. So halberds were the norm, plus warhammers & claymores, and we also see the rise of the rapier & other pointy-stabby things. The other gant guy is WHY a hammer/flail would be useful, while throwing axes would be less effective than pointy javellins, (is armor a 100% coverage kind of thing or do we need to worry about our armpits?), and JESUS STOP WEIGHING US DOWN! A 7-foot tower shield?! PLUS a halberd?!? What the hell man?! You know what would have been nice? Being able to dodge. That would have been nice. In the future I'd like to keep my ability to move.

-Claymore OR warhammer/flail & HEATER +throwing javvies, axes if gant really is impenetrable to any & all piercing.

We already can't dodge, jump, or sprint, which is why I suggest these things.

Yes, it really is impervious to piercing weapons. I don't think it was hyperbole. A heater shield does cover about 2/3 of your body...I didn't say a tower shield. We're strong enough that a sword would be nice for shredding smaller infantry; a flail will lose momentum after a few bodies, but a sword can keep cleaving.

Plus, we're just asking to see his stock currently. I'd like for us to look at a shield, his one-handed swords, and his throwing weapons or crossbows.

After all, that's what I would like much later. At that point, we may even have Solid Jinso, and thus a change in our tactics would be needed.

Where would we put them all?! And it's not like we can carry 10 great hammers and expect our penalties to stay still.

If it has joints, it's only impervious on the bits it covers. That's a big heater shield, and you said 'as tall as' not 'covers'- tower shields are the shields that rest on the ground. I tried to look this up-- found out wikipedia doesn't have a tower shield page. However, from heaters:
Quote
As plate armor began to cover more and more of the body, the shield grew correspondingly smaller, until by the mid 14th century, it was hardly seen at all outside of the tournament
Keep in mind we can parry, easily with a large weapon.

Bah, if we're talking about consecutive bodies, the claymore's what you want- besides, it's not as though our (superhuman) hypothetical swing strength wouldn't be able to keep pulping heads where it would have cleaved bodies. And if we're not that strong, at least a flail/mace wouldn't get lodged every other swing- it can keep bashing. Nor would it be useless against armor. Oh and claymores are kinda anti-armor as well- it's just that heavy.

Why solid? And we still won't have room for half the armory.

You know what? I change my loadout: Claymore, Xistera and a satchel of metal balls (3-6 depending on size/weight).
So check out shields, 1h swords/bludgeons, claymores & ranged weapons. Ask his veteran opinion on weapons in this world.

It's made as a single piece, so it wouldn't have those chinks. I don't suggest carrying ten great hammers, nor do I think we should carry all of those at a time, but we should certainly keep them for pitched battles when we need them.

I'd rather go for a slow and sure, nigh-invincible knight, rather than someone who dishes out immense damage, but can be killed more easily. Maybe not by much, but I'm the kind of person who remembers; this isn't just a figure in a game. If we were in his shoes, we're already severely slowed down by our armor, which isn't too great against crushing weapons, meaning that if they have a flail, which really can't be parried(oh my flail wrapped around your claymore. I mean my claymore), we'd be screwed, unless we have a shield.

Don't get me wrong, a shield isn't always needed, or wanted; the fact that we're impervious to most ranged attacks negates a large amount of the need for said shield. But, it's good to have one anyway.

Gantinite has no weak points, aside from one critical flaw. The helm has no visor. It covers the forehead and mouth, but your nose and eyes are vulnerable. Naturally blades and hammers and maces can still crack the armour given a few solid, repeated strikes from knight-class weapons.

Don't worry about exhaustion or weight limits too much. The only reason you're tired is because the fight at Hiketo lasted a month and you haven't slept since it began (still working on that prologue thing). You can carry quite a few weapons on your person really. Besides, you can always hire a few patsies to carry your things or take on a squire at the chapel. But don't worry about that now, we'll get you an entourage soon enough.

Let me scrape together a list of weapons for you guys real quick. I'll probably edit this to answer some of the other questions you had.

The honest-faced knight is no merchant, and immediately launches into a loving rant about his stock:
Of course I have shields, mostly tower and kite, but there a buckler or two hereabouts, and I've got hundreds of blades, including a few good two-handers. No short swords though, except mine, and thats not for sale. Rather disappointing that I haven't fought more warriors with short blades, seems that every fledgeling knight out there these days wants something impressive. I need to kill more Litelachians. They don't even know what longswords are.

Anyhow, there are a couple halberds at the front here, but they're quite good and I'm rather fond of them. It'd take a pretty penny, but I would be willing to part with one, and I'm sure you'd be intensely pleased with whatever choice you make. I've got one or two spears and a dozen of those Kiltran clack-lances. Nasty weapons those.

I've only one repeating crossbow that works. Its not fancy, but its got arms made of softened iron, built for siege work, and its served me well on occasions where I've had need of it. No real bows I'm afraid, but its not hard at all to find those in other parts of the village.

These here I'm particularly proud of. Red and blue Striker Morningstars from Tachjlankt. Anything you hit freezes instantly, or bursts into flame, depending on the colour of course. I already know you haven't the money for these. I've got some good maces though, as well as a pair just as long as a bloody stave. Those ones I took straight from the hands of a pair of Patrichlan knights. I had taken a pearl necklace from a sunken ruin, and it must've been one of their ancient temples. My ribs still hurt from that fight, took me half a day just to kill one of them it did, and two more just to have the other slip and fall from the bluff we were fighting on. I climbed all the way down the cliff with seven broken ribs and a shattered hand just to get his weapon. Its just as beautiful as the day I earned it.
