Knights are naturally larger than most people, and you're especially massive. That longsword is more like a dagger in your hands but it hardly matters when you're fighting normal people.

Are you still accepting applications?

Also: we aren't mechs, we're just giants?

Racquets would be a defense/return against this, so incorporating it into say a spear blade or shield would add another level of tech

Say, if we're giants, they must have seen us approaching from forever away. Trap? LOOK BEHIND YOU!

Your first opponent utters a battle cry and charges. You step around his wild swing with contemptuous ease and gut him with the pointed tip of your shattered blade. His guts splash into the mud and he drops. You drop the broken weapon and take up the fallen swordsman's blade, flicking it in an upward arc towards the next approaching warrior and slashing his throat wide. By the time he has dropped his sword and grasped at his gaping neck you've already slaughtered four more footmen, seperating heads from bodies and carving one unfortunate soul cleanly in two. The remaining soldiers break and run and you lower your blade, twisted and mangled from your savage swings. The weapons of unblessed men are not of sufficient make to be able to hold together in any Knight's hands, and you let the useless weapon fall to the wet ground.

After a half an hour of walking you manage to return to your own lines. You find the camp razed and the general hung, wrapped in his own standard and with a half a dozen arrow shafts buried into his body. Several of your fellow knights have gathered there and are readying one of the company's Gray carriers. The battered remnants of your contracted platoon greet you wearily and you all pile into the armoured half tread. The ride back to the chapter headquarters is a rough one, and your fellows aren't much for talk after the two day battle they've just endured, but you're pleased to finally be off the field.

The carrier rattles to a halt and the knights disembark onto the square of the chapter's East Oceanian fortress. Your fellow mercenaries all wander off into different directions to attend to their seperate matters and you head off to deal with your own. You need to collect your pay from the last battle and replace your weapons, and perhaps find some new armour in town.

You need to collect your pay first- main hall, contract office or keep, whichever does that.
Then go to the smithy, appraise your armor.
Once we have decent armor, we should head to the officer's mess, chat around for various free info.

You walk out of the office, jangling a heavy coinpurse.

Wash, take off armor, bring armor to smith or engineer or whatever. See if it's repairable.

Just wipe our boots on the way into a building next time. Wouldn't recommend watering a set of full steel plate, even if it is broken.
Head to the smithy to get it off/appraised/replaced. It's full plate, might have been fastened into it.

You go to the smithy where Kippa the Smith works his steel. The heavily muscled blacksmith always seems to be working and hardly ever rests except to wash his long sandy beard. He looks up from the greaves he is hammering out and smiles, addressing you politely, as he always does.

Good day to you Sir Kelarn! I'm glad to see you haven't been crushed to dust by a battle engine just yet. Oh my.. What have you done to that plate? Jim my boy, come help Kell here out of his armour!

A young, dark-skinned apprentice scampers up and helps you undo the straps. Kippa takes the breastplate and holds it up before his sharp eyes.

Just as I was afraid of. I can offer you about 50 silvers for the whole set, there's not a chance I'll be able to rework it. The blasted thing is only good for making horse shoes now. You can always go to the market to see what they've got there. As a matter of fact, I hear some of the merchants down there have recently come into possession some decent stock. Shouldn't be a problem, so long as you've got the silver.
