Oh, extra note (thank you to brotato for reminding me), you need to finish your school storyline to get your new skillsets. To do that you need to finish your life storyline (the quest chain you started with), then the school line will open up. Once you finish that you're golden.

Tossing out for consideration: might want to not choose a chinese name. I did for my character and I feel like I completely blend in with npcs so as to be unnoticeable.
Maybe people would notice you more if you chi blasted them more often? I recall seeing plenty of Chinese (and Vietnamese) guild names in the game, but all my suggestions in English form (other than SkeletalElephant) have fewer than 13 characters. For a dwarfy-asian-but-not-chinese name, how about KittyKimchee?

I'm sort of attached to the Departed Kin skill, and none of the other schools I'm interested in have anything like it, so maybe I'll stick with Emei after all. I may just be bored with soloing, and that should soon pass. Or I want to instigate open world PvP and can't justify it on my current character.

Nothing wrong with starting random fights, most people won't put out a bounty on a low character anyway, as it costs money. You've really gotta harass someone for that to stick usually. You'll get better the more you PvP after all! Also an option, accepting those tournament requests you get from time to time. You can't die from them, so.

Also, I've found an extra copy of Step across the cloud (air dash), found several cheap copies. Lemme know if you want it! I'll definitely be grabbing cheap copies as I see them, so don't fret if you miss this. First come first serve!

EDIT: Incidentally, everyone should leave the guild now, as from what I hear there's a 24 hour limit after you leave the guild before you can join another one.

Maybe we should make a new thread to compile all the new info on the first post?  Seeing as how the OP of the thread is MIA or something.

He's around a little, but with that said I might make a new thread OP at some point, but I'd like to get the new guild up first.

Jesus.. I've been playing and finally did that first group instance.  I log out a bit and I'm positive I had picked blue dragon.. but it said I'm on White Tiger server.  Guess its time to reroll...  What's everyone rolling anyways?  I tried wanderers valley, now I think I'll try Tang men.

We've got a couple of Emei, a royal guard, a wanderer's valley, and a beggar I believe. Don't feel compelled to be something someone else is, we need a variety. With that said if you want to be one of those don't let me stop you either. :P

Ah okay, that's good then.  I wanted variety too to fill out a balanced team.  I hope the Tang school is fun to play with.

tangmen is the only true ranged class and if you play it right you can be a huge force. Fought one earlier, I won but only just barely, they apparently have a ranged stun which is crazy.

I will be on in a minute! What instance do you mean specifically, it varies depending on your opening story.

EDIT: Menos, incidentally, is the username. It's case sensitive.

EDIT2: incidentally that airdash book has been claimed by a buddy so. I'll mention in thread if I've got any spares sometime in the future.

I'm sort of attached to the Departed Kin skill

Yes, it does lots of damage, but it takes almost a minute of building up buff stacks to get to full damage. When was the last time you had a duel last that long? And it all falls apart if you're out of combat for 30 seconds. Which happens pretty much constantly if you're in a group because people keep insisting on resting all the time or re-forming arrays in order to get their measly 3% bonus.

I guess it's good if you're soloing, but it's an awkward mechanic both for groups and for pvp.

For that matter, it's also annoying that as a school that's supposed to be tanky, one of our damage buffs applies a defense penalty. Like I said earlier, a lot of Emei skills are self-defeating.

Ah, but Departed Kin is great for grinding mobs for mats. Find a couple close together, aim cursor, jump, press the skill button, scalp, repeat. It's that combination of charge, aoe, and high-enough damage that I can't find elsewhere. Though I guess if I'm treating it like a utility skill I can always buy it later, not that I've seen many Emei skills on the market.

Seems to me that emei are pretty all around yeah, which results in the obvious issues of all around characters. When the fourth skill sets come out they'll get significantly better from what I hear.

EDIT: Although as always, if you really feel like playing as an emei, stick with it.
