Is there some sort of character limit on the guild names I should know about? Also I'll probably get my character up and running tomorrow (heh), so people threshold for the guild should be reached fairly quickly.

Scholars got monkeys in their area. There's a market for monkey skins if you want to make a bit of teal.

Thematic name suggestions brought to you by Google Translate:
- YanjiangMao (magma cat)
- DaXiangGuge (skeletal elephant)
- YaojingWazi (goblin sock)
- TudiLiyu (land carp)
- UristJianDao -or- UristBishou (urist urist)

I'm considering starting a new character (new account of course). Emei life is turning out to be a bit stale. Anyone from Scholars, Tangmen, or Wudang want to throw a recruiting pitch at me?

Edit: Jreengus? We can occur!

I really like those names and I'll probably use one if no one comes up with something better.

Also I've personally really been enjoying royal guard, all three of their sets does something different (first set is a claw, manipulates distance, second set is unarmed, has a life drain effect and is AoE, and uses different stats then the schools primary stats (namely spirit and breath instead of brawn and stamina), and third is a standard DPS sword set that involves stacking DoTs. With all this said, they don't do a ton of damage so if you want to be a DPS monster this is not the class for you, and it's fairly reliant on having the goose flying skill. On the bright side they can control other players very well and are fairly tanky.

I can also vouch for the fact that thin monkey skin is super hot on the market and it's a great way to get cash. Scholors also have pretty great burst damage with leisure kick, and some great AoE capability if you're interested in damage.

Also LordBucket, good on you for being able to solo shen, as we'll need to be running dungeons to get into PvP to begin with, having a fellow around that can bring people along for the chi and more prize opportunities without much of a risk for failing is a great thing.

Annnd I think Detonate mentioned the character limits early on. Have you decided on a school and life skill yet USEC? Mostly out of curiosity. :P

I manage to get the air dash skill for 5 liang. It makes moving around more fun. I recommend getting one immediately.

Yeah that's wild goose flying and everyone should have it asap, because it's super important for PvP. And of course it just lets you get around faster.

EDIT: Ya know, CaveDragon would be a pretty good guild name too.

From what I've heard so far I'll be angling towards the Beggar's Sect, so that I can play an old, drunk, balding man who vomits on his enemies (Don't judge me). Also it doesn't seem that you can make booze with any life skills, so... Cooking, I guess? Whatever the guild could use at the moment.

Also, I support Leyic's names for the guild over my own. They're more appropriate yet equally silly at the same time. Best of both worlds.

Wild Goose Flying is a ground dash. The air-dash is Jump Across the Cloud.

Oh well, to be fair both will be handy prolly, because often times you don't want to be in the air in PvP. :P

Sounds good! We don't have any beggars, and they've got some pretty nice moves. And as far as what we could use, we need a craftsman and a cook. A craftsman helps make weapon parts so that's handy, although without a cook we'd have to buy steamed buns, They're not very expensive, and there are enough people buying ore at any given time that buying them is trivial though. With that said as a cook progresses the foods give out pretty amazing buffs so if you're feeling cook go for it!

Tossing out for consideration: might want to not choose a chinese name. I did for my character and I feel like I completely blend in with npcs so as to be unnoticeable.

According to Detonate, it's 12 characters.

Emei life is turning out to be a bit stale.

Related, I have a page-long post in process about Emei and how they work and how I might not have chosen them if I'd understood the mechanic before I chose them.

TL;DR version:
Emei have some design mechanics that are self-defeating. They have some quirky things that they can do that are awesome but rarely applicable, and they're solid AoE damage dealers. But they're lousy on single target dps, some of their abilities don't work well in parties and while it is true that they make good tanks, their tanking abilities are spread out into two different trees that don't work well together, and in general I'd say we're more suitable as offtank than main tank. If I'm in full-on tank mode, I do no damage. If I'm not in full-on tank mode and just sort of tanking, I'm no more durable than anyone else because my tanking benefits are being applied to the whole party rather than me

...yes, I can clear the instance and all sub-missions up to the boss in five minutes. It just takes forever to solo the boss because the Emei "I'm a tank" mode requires that we do no damage. If the rest of you rush the boss while I clear the instance we can probably be in and out in under ten.

so... Cooking, I guess? Whatever the guild could use at the moment.

I highly recommend everyone take up cooking on day one. It is extremely convenient, requires almost no investment, and is immediately useful. Feel free to drop it later if we have too many cooks, but it's a great profession for your first couple days of play. Also, if you drop cooking for something else, before you do, make a full stack of 200 steamed buns and stick them in your bank. You won't regret it.

That said, as of last I checked the guild is in need of a craftsman, and lacks both a blacksmith and poison maker. Related, we need to figure out how to do this:

That is a totally generic copper quality weapon with a +30 damage bonus. For me, that would nearly double my total damage output. I'm not sure, but I think that's a poison-maker enhancement that's been added. Either way, we need to figure out how to make those.

I'll be angling towards the Beggar's Sect

If you go Beggar's Sect, I think I have some random low level begging scripts you can have. "Beggar's Sect" and "begging" are separate and distinct things, but if you're goign one you may as well go with the other.

Seconded. Scholar's are awesome AoE dps. Enough so that it's kind of annoying, because AoE dps is what Emei seem to do best, but Scholar's do it better.

On the weapon front, I partially know how to do that. The weapon has to have the "a blacksmith/chef can blahblah this weapon for a bonus", and apparently maybe some weapons can get multiple "slots" in that sense? It'll take a bit of fiddling with but I'll look into it. It's definitely an early goal as we're gonna need some decent gear at least to get anywhere in PvP. Also noted on the chinese.

Annnnd it depends on your school, but you usually need at least 10 internal and maybe some reputation. Look around your school for anybody with a quest scroll above them and talk to them if they do, if it's the skillset it'll mention something about teaching you something probably.

Seriyu, I tried adding you through the menu but it said there was no one with the name of Menos.  And I'm a cook, if that helps.  So I can provide for some of our needs.  By the way, how do you unlock the next school style?

OK, I have to reload the save.
There was a bit of a problem regarding flashfreezing, a ballistae, and a barrel of dwarven ale. Gonna fix it up.

I think you just need to level your first inner to level 10, then do the relevant quest chain from your school.

Was the M capitalized? I think it's case sensitive. What's your username?

And your next school style will be unlocked by talking to the "headmaster" (abbot if you're in shaolin, the guy you go to for spy missions in any school really), and picking "Learning is limitless". You'll need 5 levels in your first internal though.

EDIT: ALSO TO ANYONE THAT IS PLANNING ON REROLLING, JUST MAKE A THROWAWAY GMAIL ACCOUNT AND MAKE AN ALT ACCOUNT. You need to wait 2 days to delete a character (like, hit the button, wait two days), and the name is lost forever. Just make an alt account and make a new character with it. Much easier and much faster.
