Tossing out for consideration: might want to
not choose a chinese name. I did for my character and I feel like I completely blend in with npcs so as to be unnoticeable.
Is there some sort of character limit on the guild names I should know about?
According to Detonate, it's 12 characters.
Emei life is turning out to be a bit stale.
Related, I have a page-long post in process about Emei and how they work and how I might not have chosen them if I'd understood the mechanic before I chose them.
TL;DR version:
Emei have some design mechanics that are self-defeating. They have some quirky things that they can do that are awesome but rarely applicable, and they're solid AoE damage dealers. But they're lousy on single target dps, some of their abilities don't work well in parties and while it is true that they make good tanks, their tanking abilities are spread out into two different trees that don't work well together, and in general I'd say we're more suitable as offtank than main tank. If I'm in full-on tank mode, I do no damage. If I'm not in full-on tank mode and just sort of tanking, I'm no more durable than anyone else because my tanking benefits are being applied to the whole party rather than me
Also LordBucket, good on you for being able to solo shen, as we'll need to be running dungeons to get into PvP to begin with, having a fellow around that can bring people along for the chi and more prize opportunities without much of a risk for failing is a great thing.
...yes, I can clear the instance and all sub-missions up to the boss in five minutes. It just takes forever to solo the boss because the Emei "I'm a tank" mode requires that we do no damage. If the rest of you rush the boss while I clear the instance we can probably be in and out in under ten.
Also it doesn't seem that you can make booze with any life skills,
so... Cooking, I guess? Whatever the guild could use at the moment.
I highly recommend everyone take up cooking on day one. It is extremely convenient, requires almost no investment, and is immediately useful. Feel free to drop it later if we have too many cooks, but it's a great profession for your first couple days of play. Also, if you drop cooking for something else, before you do, make a full stack of 200 steamed buns and stick them in your bank. You won't regret it.
That said, as of last I checked the guild is in need of a craftsman, and lacks both a blacksmith and poison maker. Related, we need to figure out how to do this:
That is a
totally generic copper quality weapon with a +30 damage bonus. For me, that would nearly double my total damage output. I'm not sure, but I think that's a poison-maker enhancement that's been added. Either way, we need to figure out how to make those.
I'll be angling towards the Beggar's Sect
If you go Beggar's Sect, I think I have some random low level begging scripts you can have. "Beggar's Sect" and "begging" are separate and distinct things, but if you're goign one you may as well go with the other.
Scholors also have pretty great burst damage with leisure kick, and some great AoE capability if you're interested in damage.
Seconded. Scholar's are awesome AoE dps. Enough so that it's kind of annoying, because AoE dps is what Emei seem to do best, but Scholar's do it better.
