is there a way to get rid of "gossip" ? as it seems "my gossip list is full" and somehow it doesnt seem that they get removed at all (even the finished tutorial is still in there)... and no idea if new gossip gets "activated" even with full list or something well it feels like i am missing out on alot of stuff because that list is full??? but no real clue... confusing as usual.

i.e. i found the "tutorial to random encounters" quest in the book right next to the minimap (somewhere under "world something" is a button "random encounter" in that book screen. that shows you a npc where you can get a tutorial one.)
that tutorial one seems to be way more "easy to complete" than all the other random gossip i got so far... and if the mechanic is the same and i need to bring a "random" item from somewhere to a random npc and use it next to him to advance in the gossip.... then a ton of people probably have no clue what to do or stop bothering with it as it seems to be quite ridiculous....

(another theory would be, that gossip enables these mini random daily sidemissions you can see in the tasks menu (L button) under "recommended".
but from seeing how hidden everything in the tutorial encounter was i doubt that is the case and these recommended ones are more unlocking from inner level skill (as now i seem to have more than i had before) or from that jihangu (? whatever it is written) reputation with a few locked until you gift a bunch of "random" items to the npc (that mechanic is quite hidden too, you need to target the npc and then rightclick his avatar at the top and select "gift" etc).

oh and another question... anyone playing from europe? how is your server ping?
right of the minimap is a little icon that shows "server ping"  and i seem to jump around from 200 (that is "ok" for usa servers(or are they in china?)) to 800 (that is ridiculous and probably the cause why all pvp is kind of awfull).
i guess if they would release some europe servers for it pvp would feel better...

Blue dragon, yep.

EDIT: Also, Nelia hawk, I'd heard they'll eventually be releasing a european version. Note heard means "saw it on a random wiki page somewhere", so take it with a grain of salt. I dunno if they'll be activating an IP block if that happens.

EDIT2: Also Also, on lord bucket's info, the best shaolin median is the bottommost one, brightness yang kidney foot or something. I dunno any others. And for chef, I'd only do that if you don't plan on joining the guild, as I'm more then happy to provide food for people in the guild. Or any B12ers that get in contact with me really. I'm not 100% sure but the European version is named 'age of wulan' or something similar.

Saw this game on an ad recently and wanted nothing to do with it. Now that I've read this thread though, I guess I'll have to give it at least a try.

Note to detonate, I saw some snakes in Yanjing that dropped gallbladders, went through there on a cart. Just figured I'd give you a heads up!

I can confirm that manually following up on gossip clues can lead to sidemissions. Unable to confirm whether all gossip entries have quests, or whether doing these quests removes the gossip entry, or for that matter whether it's absolutely necessary to have the gossip clue first to get the quest.

Either way, I haven't noticed gossip-related quests begin particular more or less worth doing than any other quests.

"Yang Brightness Stomach Foot" meridian? Best how? I lack sufficient reference to agree or disagree, but how did you come to this conclusion? I was under the impression that all schools have both internal and external skills, and that which is best would depend on which skills you mostly use. Though that particular meridian looks to give mostly defense bonuses of its first level. Or are you referring to later levels of development? What does it do?

the guild

Related, I still don't have a guild invite. I'm looking at the guild interface now and it appears that the search function doesn't work. Even if I try to search for guilds I see on the list it comes up with zero results.

...and did it again and it now suddenly is works. Ok, *shrug*

I've applied.

Guild name is "DrunkenBeard" for those who missed it earlier.

Also, that name is awful.

Flax is a low-level farming product. Take up farming and you can grow as much as you need.

Coarse cloth I kind of assume is made by tailoring, but I'm looking at my local tailoring npc now and I don't see that particular recipe either for sale or on the combine list. Worst case I'm pretty sure it does drop from npcs, but there are nearly a dozen types of cloth you definitely can weave yourself just using recipes available in the starter zone. So if you're leveling tailoring, you might have an easier time just making things that use those types of cloth.

Feel free to ask questions. The game is a lot deeper and more complicated than it first appears. It's also a largely open world without a lot of handholding. Personally I spent a good portion of my first ten hours of play simply staying at the screen in confusion.

In other news, I just discovered team practice. Went from inner skill level 10 to 12 in under ten minutes.

EDIT: Actually, here's a question: how do I use life battle skills? I'm a chef. I have the paring ability. It costs 2 meat and 7 fish. Once I collect those, the ability turns red to indicate that it is available. I then wait until my turn and click it...and nothing happens. Left click, right click, both buttons together, spamming everywhere on the button, click dragging it, pressing "p" ...nothing seems to work.

How do I activate it?

Well i can't play AoW so i can't offer any direct answers but i'd guess the following:

1 - You need a tool of sorts (probably a knife).
2 - You need some kind of "workbench" to do it.

I just tried to friend you. It claims that name doesn't exist or is offline. So I tried to send mail...have a carrier pigeon and everything, but I click the button and nothing happens.

Are you online now?

Coarse cloth and Flax you can get from killing npc people (not animals).

for the chef skill... i think that is how it should work... no idea what it is or what it does as i am tailor and not chef, but i guess the battle system is similar.
when you press the i button and then mark chef and click the "life battle" button there you can equip the skills etc, but i guess its automatically active.
maybe it has a requirement to be useable, check the tooltip again maybe... i.e. "negates enemy shield" or so that might just work then if the enemy has a shield active.
hmm when i can use a skill it actually gets white-ish borders, but maybe the chef one goes red then... red just sounds more like "not usable atm".

a basic walkthrough would be:
-arrive in home/starter town
-learn basic combat style there.
-join a school and learn the first school style. (then cultivate/level up your school internal skill from here on for a loooong time.)
-go back to your hometown (some homesickness quest) and complete your main storyline chapter1 questline. (you get array skills at the end) you wont get a quest to the npc that starts this... you have to find the npc yourself in your hometown, he/she has a golden quest scroll over their head!
-then go back to your school and start the main school storyline for chapter 1.
-that storyline will teach you the 2nd and 3rd school style. (i think it requires your "school internal skill" to be level 5 and 10).

and as side stuff to do (in more or less order of difficulty):
-click the book next to the minimap and click/read/do/checkout all tabs and buttons in there until you checkmarked most of them. (basic tutorials, alot are probably checked already and a few are more difficult to checkmark).
-life skills.
-little repeatable side quests (press L button, then recommended tab. each map has tons of them.) or find npcs with silver scrolls over their head.
-press N and do all the stuff in there. maybe start with a few low faction fights from the "factions" tab (instances that are all over the world and play similar to what you did when you got the array skill in your hometown. takes like ~10-20 mins to finish). then theres actual long versions in the "instances" tab (first is twilight village. takes like ~2h to finish.)
-and then there is all the school stuff like patrols, spying, scrolls, war...
-and if you joined a guild there is all that stuff too.. like escorting a cart to a town.
-and even more hidden are random encounters based on gossip. (for a basic idea check the book at the minimap and go to "around the world" and then check the "random encounter" button... that hives you a easy quest version of what you can find all over the game hidden in random items and npc gossip.)
