Do villages spawned in the open ocean actually have buildings?

Nope. Even when the game, during worldgen, decides to put a town out in the ocean it doesn't physically put anything there. This can create huge problems where the game always wants to start the adventurer there, but can't because there's no non-flooded ground to stand on and no actual village, so it flips it's shit and spawns you in the caverns, as some dumb animal.

That fun moment... Once I tried to cross a 3 tile wide river, then a lungfish(or something similar, but i'm pretty sure it was a lungfish) bite my neck, I bleed to death.

 In the middle of the night and running from bogeymen, I was looking for a river I saw on my map. after climbing up several z-levels, I found what I thought was my salvation in an area over the water. I happily walk down the edge to the river so I can swim across. It turns out that it was over the water, by about 30 z-levels. I swiftly plummet to my doom. However, instead of mercifully killing my poor adventurer instantly, I break literally EVERY BONE in my body, then gently float in the river until I drown to death

Giant Lice (or was it a tick I forget). It was sitting right next to a 7 square pond, I was feeling particularly dwarfy after leveling my wrestling up a ton by throttling sea turtles so I decided to hack him with my axe. My screen flashed and I was lying unconsious on the slope in the pond blood everywhere. After checking wth happened apparently the tick was a level 12 ninja who roundhouse kicked me  (in the process shattering a few ribs) into the pond, where I hit my head and drowned in shame...

There was this one time where, in an effort to create my own story of a badass elf, I fired up adventure mode and gave it a try. I was not aware, however, that I would start with only one metal dagger and a whole lot of wooden weapons. I had to make due with my dagger, since the wooden spear I had barely made a dent in even the softest of cuddly animals. In my first battle, I came across an archer and a bandit boss. It was a hard-fought battle, but eventually I managed to incapacitate both of them by stabbing them repeatedly with my dagger until they were both on the ground with their hands cut off.

Breathing hard, I surveyed my wounds. Only a a few grazes and bruises, nothing that wouldn't heal after a bit of travel. My opponents were not so lucky. The bowman had a massive gut-wound and both of his hands were bloody stumps. He'd never fire a bow again, and I'd remove any last possibility. His boss was lying dead a few feet away, and I was feeling high on the power. I stood over the dying bowman and raised my dagger to deal the killing blow, at which point his foot rocketed into the air and my skull exploded.

I know this probably happens often but I was a vampire trying to drink blood from an npc i woke him up and everything decided to kill me. I mean the ducks cats chickens everyone. Its rather sad i didn't die because they did a lot of damage they really didn't do much at all soon after i could no longer walk after that I died very easily it took along time but someone got a lucky hit in and killed me with a silver dagger it was a fish cleaner.

Was one-shotted by a zombie moose as a legendary fighter while trying to refill my waterskin in a terrifying biome. And there were 3 more of these beasts.

Hey everyone first post! I adore this game and its staggering detail. Pretty experienced adventurer  and I know the basics of fortress mode. Long time lurker.

Both of these were in arena mode but the first just happened and was so out of nowhere I wanted to share

So I spawned nine humans with grand master blowguner and featherwood guns and iron darts, just to muck around.

After a while I was the only one standing with just a torn eyelid as the only dart that hit me hit me in thr eye from behind, but miracioously only tore my eyelid. Everyone else was either unconscious or crippled I got bored and broke one guys arms and legs and shot him another ten times with darts but he wouldn't go unconscious let alone die. So I decided to spawn another guy with a bow and iron arrows so I could kill him and steal them. He had no skill with the weapon. The turn after he spawns I fire at him with the blowgun and miss he fires and somehow hits me directly in the heart, tearing it and a major artery. Wow. I of course start bleeding heavily but my health screen only shows "slight pain" and I'm otherwise fine apparently so I run over to him and drop my blowgun so I can use my  iron darts to kill him in melee before I die I manage to hit him in the head with my first attack killing him instantly! I then walk over and stab an unconscious guy a few times first paralysing him then killing him. At this point I finally became faint. I then had to stop playing but that one shot by an unskilled archer consigned me to death I'm sure.

Another time I had a giant vs a elf both controlled by the ai. The elf shot the unarmed giant with whatever she had, some kind of bow. It hit him in the heart wounding him fatally. The stricken giant ran up to thr elf a d punched her once in the upper body which hit her lung. The giant died directly after from blood loss and the elf suffocated a few turns after from that one wound.

One time, I got the nerves in one of my legs severed by a crab, who then proceeded to rip my throat open. After that, I started wearing full iron armor to the beach.

I have been messing with the RAWs recently and I have created a super-race. I tested one out to useless ruthless efficiency. Twenty-seven notable kills... and killed by bogeymen after getting my right hand and foot cut off.
