So, it's my turn now, right?
I should be able to download the save tomorrow and provide a short update the same day.

Spoiler: Excuses (click to show/hide)

Thanks for saving our butts with that turn Ruhn! Looks like you survived quite nicely despite the many perils. Grats on that pick, I personally wouldn't have thought of that >.>

Now we need more players, hopefully the new tag can get us that!
Chimpanzee, good luck :) Reds got a headstart, can you keep it going?

Here are some initial impressions.

Granite 1, Red Year 303
No metal? The previous Red overseer must be kidding.
I've ordered some limonite mined, and magma forges set for gearing the red soldiers with steel.

Dwarves still sleeping in the dormitory? Grotesque.
I've made some bedrooms and filled them with dwarves.

Wooden ballista arrow? How sad.
Time to fix all this stuff.

No stray cats ready for slaughter? Absurd. Time to fix this NOW.

Granite 3, Red Year 303
Upon unpausing, I noticed that our current workshop level is an utter mess. Ew.
Time to make a nice, neat workshop level in stone and metal.

Well, real life doesn't allow me to continue past this point, so expect an update a few hours from now.
I already have some miners working and more beds moved to the bedrooms. Cats are being slaughtered.

When I started my turn I noticed announcements about striking various ores/gems.  When looking over at the red side it seems Pie Maker designated a lot of digging for bedrooms (and maybe more) at the very end of year 4.

Does anyone else see those black hole tiles on Blue side I was talking about?

If the next blue player doesn't want to deal with the black holes or wait for winter, I think we have 3z of dirt that can be used for double plug method.  I fought the double slit for at least half the year.

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while, real life got me, and I didn't feel like playing for a while.
I've made it through the entirety of Spring. I'll post an update shortly.

I've moved the meeting area above ground, in order to prevent cave adaptation, as well as ordering the construction of a floodgate, for a Red well protected from amphibian mounts of goblins.

Slate 2, Red Year 303
Well, Granite was uneventful. After the Slate militia job swap, I've noticed that's all booze we have:

Time to brew some drinks! I have ordered repeated drink brewing at the Red stills.
Also, good thing I thought of making a well.

Thinking of a well, Oh well! (pun intended) I could just make a well over the aquifer without dealing with floodgates. I've ordered the construction of two wells over the aquifer.

Slate 22, Red Year 303

We have discovered a cavern! The most benign cavern level, filled with tower-caps and fungiwood, now belongs to Red. When I can, I'll build a red wall halfway through the cavern.

Felsite 4, Red Year 303
I began walling the cavern. Clay load has been ordered moved underground.
The Mayor and the Manager now have their quarters. I've ordered the construction of Bookkeeper quarters as well.

Felsite 8, Red Year 303
Despite the repeated brewing, our booze supply is slowly dwindling. From 180 drinks in Slate we only have 166 right now. I've ordered the construction of three stills next to the existing ones, and 3 Craftsdwarf's workshops for rock pots.

Felsite 11, Red Year 303

...from the south. Them hippies, are you so scared of blood that you approach it so carefully? Hopefully you brought at least something useful (wood).
I've ordered our bridge opened. The hippies are now making the way towards our crimson walls.

Felsite 16, Red Year 303
:O

A good selection of animals. Giant war cheetahs everyone!
Let's see what goods I have to offer... Only four bins of finished goods! Let's see what's inside.
A lot of quivers, splints, crutches. And an artifact. Hopefully we can get rid of it (somehow?) before it's stolen by kobolds.
Strangely, after moving them around, none of the bins contained the artifact. Guess I'll resort to making rock mugs.

Craftsdwarf's Workshop: Make Rock Mug/R

Why I don't kill them you say? As a person who hates clutter, killing them would cause more clutter than it would help.

Hematite 1, Red Year 303
Spring is over. On the bright side, my booze-brewing plant (pun intended) works! We have 5 stills, and currently over 300 drinks, the majority of them belong to Red.

Let's see what's going in the blue fortress:

Hematite 1, Blue Year 303
Unlike in the Red fortress, in the Blue fortress, things are indeed "blue", or grim.
I've found a room filled with more than 30 coffins, each containing a dead Blue member. The graveyard included dead Ruhn and Mastacheese as well.
After locating the food stockpile, I couldn't find a single drink barrel in there. Plants are not moved out of the farms. Some wither.
Even the Aquifer is not yet penetrated. Yes, there are some diggings below it, but they are blocked by water. Considering the Red are already walling off the first cavern.

Hematite 2, Red Year 303
I have decided to dig deeper in hope for finally finding magma.

We have found a second cavern. This was mostly water, but strangely, dry with exposed rock ground. The water prevents us from claiming this cavern as our territory. Well, if maybe dwarven engineers create walkable platforms made of air.

I've walled off the cavern and the miner dug deeper.

Hematite 5, Red Year 303

You already leaving? Horrible impatience you have, hippies.

Hematite 7, Red Year 303
We've found the magma sea. It's rather close to the ground, leaving a lot of space for [SPOILER] spires.

As of the trade, We've sadly only had FIVE mugs, tradable for some wood.
I've offered them a chestnut crutch, so they leave quickly! And the pointy ears we hate are finally leaving.

Galena 7, Red Year 303
Two uneventful months. The human caravan is almost here, and the cavern is finally fully walled off, but without a bridge. I'm working on blocking the depot so that merchants don't leave their stinking footprints on it during the Blue years.
In terms of food and drink, the condition is superb. We already have more than 1200 drinks, and the number just soars.
Speaking of blocking the depot, where does one get all the cinnabar we have? I cannot find any traces of it left by miners, and I want some of it for a lever.

Galena 13, Red Year 303

The humans have always been a hilariously stupid race. A depot accessibility check has returned that our Red depot is accessible since the start of the Red Year 303.
Yet the humans, just like the pointy-eared bastards, decided they prefer to approach our crimson walls carefully.
We've opened the way, and they are now making their way towards our depot. On the bright side, we have dozens of mugs ready for trade.

Galena 21, Blue Year 303
This dwarf seems interesting to me:

That massive former entity association list! That lack of thoughts related to food, drink and sleep! Hasn't has alcohol in a year already! Guess we've found yet another vampire in the Blue fortress. I'll rename the dwarf quickly.

Galena 22, Red Year 303
The human caravan has finally arrived. We began the negotiations.
Our profit:
• A single alder log
• Some booze
• Some prepared fish
• A bunch of cloth and leather
We could get a lot more, but that was just enough.

Galena 28, Red Year 303
Summer is nearly over, guess It's time for the current Red overseer to take a short break. (I prefer to make my sessions seasonal)

I'll repeat a question I made for the previous overseers:
How do you get all the cinnabar and cobaltite? Does it rain to you or something?

Limestone, Red Year 303
By early Limestone, the magma workshops (smelters, kilns and forges) are already set in stone. I'll try to get a stockpile of metal ores and bars in there.

Limestone 5-11 (??), Red Year 303

A moody child. That's right. The dwarf is only two years old, which means we probably won't make any use of her skills, sadly.
The dwarf requested cut gems, as well as taking various materials out of random corners.

Limestone 19, Red Year 303
I've finally decided to put an end to the ghost infestation in our fortress. Three out of four ghosts are Red. I also decided, along with the memorialization of ghostly dwarves, to honor our notable figures with statues of them.
So far Dolwina and bkdevil have been recreated in limestone form. More incoming.

Limestone 23, Red Year 303

Hope it's anywhere near useful.

Limestone 27, Red Year 303

It's worth slightly more than 100k dorfbucks. Sadly we don't have a drummer in our fort to play it, and you can't place it as decoration in the King's throne room.

By the time, we already have honored "Vampire" twice, and Mastacheese and "Midnight" once, all in stone.
If you look at the notes (SHIFT+N), you should be able to dig slightly deeper into the stone that composes our notable figures.

Timber 9, Red Year 303
Sandstone was uneventful, so was the beginning of Timber. I thought The four remaining months would bore me to death, when:

In the blue fort.

Timber 9, Blue Year 303
The beast taught the cat that spotted it a lesson and moved on. At least Red is safe from it.
It went straight towards a stray kitten, away from the river, and finished it like a cockroach.
It went north, transformed to a human and left! Surprises can be disappointing as well.

Timber 15, Red Year 303
A Red ghost has risen. I quickly ordered a slab engraved in order to keep it at bay.

Timber 17, Red Year 303
The dwarven caravan has finally arrived. This time with wagons, but from the blue side. A Peasant diplomat has arrived as well. We are preparing our *Limestone Mugs* for trade.

Timber 24, Red Year 303
The negotiations have begun. For our mugs, we managed to get:
• A bunch of clay
• A bunch of wood
• A good deal of booze
• A bunch of cloth and leather bins of each kind
• 1000☼ worth of cheese
• 400☼ worth of fish
• 700☼ worth of plump helmets
• This thing:

And we're done.
Now just waiting a few days for autumn to end before I get started with winter.

Timber 28, Blue Year 303
And now, only one season left for me to manage before I give the party-making, aquifer-breaching-failed Blue Fortress to whoever wills to be the next overseer.

Expect the winter update at least two days from now. Sorry, real life limitations.

It's my guess that these stones were brought over during the initial embark setup.

Looks like things have been pretty peaceful for Red, the gobbos must be afraid of your military from the last thrashing they got.  If Blue's luck stays the same, we'll get a bunch of sieges and ambushes next year.

Here's the winter update as promised.

Moonstone 9, Red Year 303
Oh no!

What you see is right: A frozen aquifer and destroyed wells. Better dig in the aquifer somewhere not exposed to the surface and place wells there.
We also have yet another moody child, who is now making something out of bone.

Moonstone 13, Red Year 303

That was fast. So we get an indestructible anti-clown barrier. Good.

Moonstone 18, Red Year 303

Time it has taken for Chimpanzee to notice the existence of a well in the Red fort! The whole well project was pointless.
Anyway, I'll build two wells next to the existing one.

Obsidian 20, Red Year 303
Winter was uneventful. Opal went like a breeze. While water has been frozen, activities have been frozen as well. It's nearly Spring, and:

Obsidian 20, Blue Year 303

The dwarf got killed by a raven woman. His father is currently very unhappy. On the threshold of a tantrum.

Granite 1, Red Year 304

And we're done! Spring has arrived, and it's time to switch position.

Here are the fortress' current stats: (most booze, if not all of it, belongs to Red)

The current Red entrance layout:

Sounds good to me, if CD is in agreement.  Welcome to Blue team.  The glitch in the "big pit" is preventing us from walling off enough for even a 1x1 stair.  Besides DFHack changing to default tiles may be worth a shot.  If you can fix, great.  Otherwise finish double-slit or start a new aquifer breach.

Another great turn for Red! The cobaltite and cinnabar were brought here from the Mountainhome by the initial builders. I don't know if there are any native variants.

Here are the fortress' current stats: (most booze, if not all of it, belongs to Red)

Uh oh, I hope Blue had something to drink at all. Poor dwarves must be half-crazed. And that vampire is no joke. Good job on spotting him!

Indeed, welcome to the blue team! You have an uphill battle ahead of you, including an aquifer that has challenged previous overseers. And seemingly a bugged terrain spot?

I'll have a look at the save after work, and do an appropriate update from the Mountainhome. In the mean time, start whenever yer ready!
You may have to start playing dirty...
