Noy voting, but I do have something to say since I know what setting Weirdsound is using for this: DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTACES, USE ANY MAGIC IN PUBLIC. Bad things WILL happen if you do so, REALLY bad things.
Hence why I voted for mind-altering magic.

Mind-altering magic isn't going to work on what will come after you. These guys WILL outclass you by several magnitudes in power.

On another note about outclassing (sorry for OOC), but you can still act in Pantheon. You have an avatar and stuff.

You can even fire Udil, which I recommend as he kinda let the only prisoner out, which made Despair even worse.

You awaken in a room that is, at first glance strange to you. Your perfectly serpentine body seems to be resting on a strange rectangular alter that changes color and material every couple seconds. This is not where you remember falling asleep.

She enters the room, and you quickly put two and two together. Slithering up to the alter she glares at you with all seventeen of her eyes and speaks with a voice that would be purely mesmeric to a creature of lesser stature than yourself. "Sarah Ynot, God brings good tidings to our family and new purpose for you. Rejoice."

You shudder and think your response over carefully before answering. Graois the chaos god has been known to demand sacrifices from within the family from time to time. "My purpose remains among the living, correct?"

The Matron smiles and reaches out to stroke you with one of her many blue scaled hands. "Indeed. Graois says the time is right for one of my daughters to face the trials of a pilgrimage. To change. He has tasked you with the duty of organizing the journey and guiding her along the way. You may choose which Maiden to send, and bring any family members you can recruit along with you."

The Matron's words hit you hard. Until now you had been content to live in your lair with a few servants, increasing your Arcane Knowledge through study and occasionally coming out of your metaphorical shell to provide magical assistance to family members or allies in need. Your life now will change however, as the Matron's words are Graois' Law. Although you hesitate for a second to let your task sink in, you don't doubt your devotion to it for even a second.

"Of course holy one." you answer "As you have said, so it shall be done."

"Very good." The Matron replies. "The exit is behind you. Proceed with this mission as you see fit. I don't wish to lower myself to dealing with this task, but if an absolute need exists, feel free to request my assistance. Now then, allow me to return to my meditation."

Tradition dictates that a Matron should remain distant and detached, so you decide to leave your Matron without further discussion and return to your personal base of operations, accessible through a secret door in the Kalmanovitz Library at the University of California San Francisco.

As the Sage of the family Magical College, your accommodations are quite luxurious. A large library, several reinforced rooms for experimental casting and summoning, a proper alchemy lab, and living space for yourself and your staff are all at your disposal.

The three other permanent residents of your headquarters greet you upon your arrival, but you decide to give them the cold shoulder; If the Matron snatched you in your slumber that means the twins have failed you and deserve to be punished for a bit, and you find Icarus to be repulsive and never speak to him if you can avoid it.

You shut the staff up with a loud hiss and coil up at your desk and stare at your notes and charts on the wall. One of your students, Nathan Lamb, is due over for his lesson in about an hour. You wait for him while considering your options and new role.

(No arms, but you have Autopathy to let you use typewriters and cars, and two guards who do have that will follow you wherever you go if you ask. You are about the size of a Burmese Python, and strong enough to take out most humanoids in a straight fight, and you have ways to move around the city unnoticed.

Since I'm an impatient bastard, I'll give a mini-turn to jump start things here.)

Icarus slithers into your office after several minutes, and makes himself comfortable. Without so much as asking where you have been or expressing concern that you had vanished, the retired patron launches into business. "Sarah my dear, I just got a call from Fargossso down at business HQ. He says he captured a few rival Maidens, and is saving one for me for old times sake. Do you need me to pick up anything for your lesson with Carmen tomorrow while I'm out?"

You ponder you disgusting father's words briefly. Carmen, your Transformations Student, had just finished up a unit on taking animal forms, and you are unsure what you should teach her next. You have a whole library full of spells you are somewhat familiar with, but most transformations that don't work on the self require a test subject of sorts to practice on. It might be best to order your so called 'co-sage' to snag a homeless person or pet on the way back.

What worries you more however is the fact that Fargossso has captured a Maiden. In all likelihood he managed to filch her from the nearby Posiden Family across the bay in Oakland. If that is the case they will likely try to take one of your maidens in revenge, which would complicate the task of preparing for a pilgrimage.

With a soft hiss you turn to your father. "Icarus, please do go pick up a stray or something later, but you are not going out to play with an imprisoned Maiden quite yet. The Matron has assigned me some rather important family business, and I must begin to attend to it. I have to go out again. Therefore when Nathan comes over for his magic lesson, I expect you teach him."

The Patron swears under his breath and shoots you an evil glance but doesn't say a word out loud. Icarus has been mooching off you for years, and you have no idea how he will react when he finds out that you have been chosen to leave the family and help start a new one. Perhaps you should keep him in the dark for as long as possible.

With that you call for your guards to bring around the Bus and prepare to leave.

Your VW Bus used to belong to one of those human hippies who have come to plauge the city as late. It was acquired from it's original owner when the man was kidnaped and parted out for spell components, and has since been modified for use by Nagakind. You coil up in the backseat and rub Rodrick's head with the tip of your tail. "Take me to the compound please. I need to talk with Steven."

The Eunuch nods and the van sputters to life, and eventually you arrive back at the large mansion from which you have just departed.

You enter the lounge, where several dozen Maidens, Eunuchs, and various youngsters hang around and send your Guard Detail upstairs to announce your presence to Steven. The house guards will protect you here, so there is no need to cling too tightly to Axel and Rodrick.

Steven Claim has a rather inflated sense of self importance, and you know as well as anybody else that he will likely keep you waiting for a bit just to show that he can. Although you figure that he will likely initialy offer you only the flawed maidens that he would like to rid himself of, you figure there is no harm in using your wait time to scout the Maidens in the room.

There are five mature Maidens around, and you know three of them by name.

Sue Nels is Icarus's sister and thus your aunt, but you are not particularly close to her. Although like many Maidens she spends much of her time looking after the young, you hear that back in the day she used to like to join your father on his hunts. Three Eunuchs are currently giving her a sponge-bath.

Mellow Smith is infamous for having gone native and having fallen in with the hippie movement. She loves to give lectures about free-love, the evils of the traditional Naga family, werebeing rights, protecting the environment, and whatever other cause may have taken her fancy on a particular day. Willow is currently teaching several children how to play the guitar.

Desiree Lammar is a younger maiden who just came of age a few months ago. She is said to have some raw magical talent and was scheduled to begin attending college under you to learn Transformations in a few months. She has a reputation for being skittish and cowardly, but you have never personally witnessed this. She is currently working with one of the Maidens who's name you cannot recall to brand an enthralled human with the Tattoos he needs to serve as a proper sacrifice.

Desirees partner in crime wears is splotched with motor oil. She must either work for the business or help maintain the main residence's impressive fleet of cars.

The last Maiden, who's name you cannot quite recall is missing her right arm. You suspect that she more than any other would benefit the most from the chance to have her body reforged by a god. She is currently nursing a baby Manspawn while rocking a coiled child to sleep with her tail.

You are not entirely sure how much time you have before Steven will give you the time of day, but you figure you have ways to kill it. Chatting up one of the Maidens to learn more about her could work to your benifit. You find children to be amusing as well, they are always so awestruck by the presence of a Serpent. You also know that most of the house Eunuchs are not nearly as stuck up as their leader Steven, and most are more than willing to share all sorts of juicy gossip...

Let's go talk to missing-arm. In any case, just how dark is this going to get, Weirdsound? I'm already feeling the urge to kill off the entire Naga race.
