Unable to draw anything from this, you decide to head to the industrial district, the events playing heavily on your mind. As you walk, Carver and Surma try to fill you in a bit more on the locale:
'The industrial district is home to most of the free groups round here - the ones who decided they didn't like how it was all going up above or down below. Some of them will just attack on sight, some have formed alliances. There's quite a big alliance in the subway tunnels, and they all answer to one big guy. No idea who he is though. The rest of them tend just to roam.'
'I cannot tell you who he is, but I can tell you that the hellhounds were part of this group. I would ask that even if you do not pursue them yourself, I be permitted to. they dishonoured me, and I would have my vengeance.
'well regardless, it's the middle of the night out here. if we don't go after them, they're sure to come after us'
'Let 'em try Surma, let 'em try'

"If he had hellhounds as part of his group, he might well be a divine, or at least be able to challenge a lesser one. He is a tempting prey, though. So I say we should ambush a patrol or an offshoot of this big alliance, something we can handle, and get more information on this guy. After that, depending on what we learn we might go straight for him or subvert some of his men beforehand."

"That is acceptable. I will stay with you for now."
It takes only a few moments to move to the roof of one of the nearby buildings, from which you can survey the area. Of particular interest are two patches of torchlight. one emanating from an abandoned factory, although you can sense no one inside, and one from a subway entrance. Around the entrance stand six or seven men, who, although clearly not divine, have something of divinity about them, for reasons you are unable to ascertain.

In a couple of minutes you are at the factory window. As you stand outside, you could swear you see something move inside, but nothing comes out to challenge you as you step into the pool of light. Inside you can see a semicircle of torches arrayed in front of one wall. On that wall is a mosaic. One made of red, blue and green tiles, all perfectly square, but of varying sizes. They remind you strongly of the one you saw by the message in the warehouse, and for some reason they fill you with a horror you cannot begin to comprehend. the bottom half of the mosaic consists of a seemingly random mess of the 3 colours, whilst the top half seems incomplete......

I agree. I don't really want to sit here trying to decipher a puzzle when we came here for something entirely different.
Ambush the humans at the subway. Gauge their forces from afar.

Ill at ease, you turn to walk away. As you do however, you feel a slight stinging sensation in your back, before you fall to the ground, unknowing.
 -----
 CHAPTER 2
You watch in horror as the being you were coming to respect fell to the floor, a feathered dart protruding from his back. Before your very eyes, the prone form begins to shrink and contract, eventually forming a medium sized green tile.
You turn to run after the others, who scattered as soon as the dart hit his back, only to find a creature waiting before you. It is a filthy thing, humanoid but thin and bony, wearing nothing more than a loincloth. As your hand reaches for the familiar handle of your shotgun, you are halted by a word from the creature.
 'Master........'
