Neolithic Revolution
« on: March 15, 2013, 10:52:33 pm »

Neolithic Revolution is a game about the early days of civilization (from just before the Agricultural Revolution (for which NR is a different name), and, who knows, maybe all the way to modernity). Players can join in what I think of as an innovative way, and it can theoretically support any number of participants for as long as they are interested. The rules are hopefully not too complicated, but the emergent results should be entertaining and interesting. Some people may notice similarities to The Market, which has inspired this game to some extent.

Hunting Counter by 10% of the difference between it and 100 rounded down.
So it is never possible not only to return it to 100, but also to even raise it above 91, even if everyone stops hunting forever? Why the different mechanics for the two counters? This seems stupid to me.

War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.

Hunting would remain a viable source of food until the 19th century. I would love to hear your ideas on how to achieve this.

Why not just copy the linear increase of the foraging counter?

Make it grow by 10-20% of current animals population, this way until we start mass hunting there will be enough animals. If we do however start killing too much of them, those animals will give birth too slowly to cover our needs.
