I found Saint's Row 3 a lot more enjoyable than GTAIV. I know some people disagree with the concept of "time played as a measurement of fun", but I've got over 30 hours on SR3 and have beaten the story once already. In contrast, I don't think I'm even a quarter of the way through GTAIV and have the scrounge up the will to play. The fact that the latter game requires using Windows Live just to save your game is another big minus against it.

So. Tentatively excited for this one.

SR4 = $5 buy for GOTY edition on a Steam sale. GTA-style games have been stale for years, and I just don't see SR4 doing anything to breath life into the genre.

I don't regret picking up SR3 for $3, but it struck me as the AAA PC title equivalent of a 99 cent iOS game: Lots of fluff to spend time on, very little substance.

Absolutely. I consider a AAA game any game backed with a huge marketing budget. Considering that my city had SR3 billboards, SR3 TV spots, and SR3 posters lining every inch of the subways and bus stops, I'd say that it more than qualifies.

Many people consider an AAA title to be one that ships over 1 million copies on major platforms. Seeing as SR3 sold 3.8 million copies by January 2012, I'd say that it qualifies there too.

Now, if you're considering the term AAA to mean quality of game, then AAA is a thing of the past.

My thoughts: Looks a lot like SR3, but improved in some ways. Dubstep gun (yes, you heard that right) seems underpowered. Superpowers look crazy awesome.

To be honest, I'm not looking forward to this. I mean, SR3 just went a little too stupid, and the idea of "GTA with superpowers" was fairly well covered by Crackdown, Prototype and Infamous. I liked SR2, but I think the things that made it great are different from the things SR3 puts in the spotlight.

It looks like it'd be good for some silly fun between more involved games. I'd buy it if it were £20, but you can bet your ass it'll be closer to £40.

Yeah the Fun time ratio is something I accept. Time Ratio isn't.

I actually prefer longer to shorter games.
