The price will go down once it is being sold normally, and the current prices are not really prices but kickstarter backing things - at least that's what I heard, but don't have a source.

They're basically pre- orders

So, what, they're aiming for mass marketing it eventually? Shipped to and sold in stores and stuff? I'd be ok with that.

Yes, definitely.

He wants this to become the staple food of the future, with a few very lofty goals in mind.

1.  Reduce world hunger
2.  Reduce environmental impact from agriculture (especially livestock)
3.  Improve the health of the general population

255 per person per month is about what food for my house costs.  Compared to something that gives you everything you need ? Heh, no contest.
Holy shit, dude. My household is closer to $75/mo/person, and that's because Wolfeyez has cultivated a taste for more expensive food in me.

MZ, where you live plays a not-insignificant role in the price of food, it should be mentioned. I'm not sure how I could remain healthy on $75 a month here - I could certainly do it, esp. if I worked primarily from noodles and rice, but I wouldn't be pulling in particularly nutritious meals.

On the other hand, $255 is a... kind of a lot, really, if you're eating at home for each meal. That's $8.50 a day per person. If you go out to eat a few times a week though, for the convenience factor if nothing else, that's an average that's quite easy to hit. The cheapest you can grab food at a restaurant around here is about $7.00 a meal for lunch, and probably not less than $13.00 for dinner, so that adds up quickly if (like at my work) going out to eat together with people is a regular thing for you.

I was probably above that before I realized I really couldn't justify eating out so often, even with the social aspect.

I DO live in Canada. Cost of living is higher here.

And we've gotten it down to below 200 lately.

Oddly, I don't live too far from Descan, but the national border and existence of a hell-plane (named Detroit) between us makes all the difference.

I'm interested. This could make for one hell of a diet supplement, and I'd go for it... assuming the taste is stomachable.
