Shape the trousers to the thong. Accommodate the spikes. Like wearing a porcupine. I could see a practical version where the spikes are used to hold the trousers in place, much like a belt.

You should consider abandoning your fortress in order to give an adventurer the chance to go on a killing spree with it. Wielding or wearing it is up for you to decide, of course. Or you could clone that world and have both.

I was forced to abandon my fort due to a goblin ambush, causing a tantrum spiral that wiped out.  Disregard the second area I attempted to embark at, I didn't like where it was...
