"The cannon isnt the problem, the algorithms used to teach it to walk havent been running long and removing it during the learning process will cause issues later on due to the altered weight distribution profile especially if it is not replaced immediately."

prevent Simus removing the cannon unless i can quickly swap it for an electrolaser, preferably one around 15 ru and powered mostly by the shuttle reactor.

((Actually Thundertron sounds awesome, provided i can swap the gauss cannon for an electrolaser.))

Simus messages Steve:
Quote from: Simus>Steve
Please inform Auron that yes indeed, I am in command of him for the time being. Don't spare the shock implant if you feel like it.

((And thus our argument will end with a lesson on why you don't ignore the chain of command, as delivered by the GM's in-character persona. It will be a shocking discovery for Auron, I think.

And Simus has no major issues with the base platform (apart from how it was built - using materials designated not for use, and just a general dislike for that sort of thing), or at least, she didn't. Since Auron persisted, I may dismantle it as well and see about repurposing its materials (not originally procured with RU, but we might be able to liquidate it into some).))

More messaging, this time to Anton:
Quote from: Simus>Anton
About the warheads, have they been tested (in VR, of course)? What makes a kinetic amp-boosted charge superior to the traditional fusion-type warheads? It's certainly more expensive, is there any way to properly justify that?

As for ship overhauls, I would think twice about your plans for refitting the blackship-esque one into a giant plasma cannon - I would like you to test that as well, is it worth the resources sunk into it for what return we get out of it?

As for the others, I see few issues. One that sticks at me is how, exactly, is that modified hauler, modified? I can see their use as mobile light air support, just wondering as to what, exactly, is different about that one?
Auron makes his case for his scarab bot and Simus makes her case for him losing control of his bowels.

As the electrical discharge and muscle spasms subside, a voice booms out of command building's pa system. It's distorted, probably due to the damage done to the building, but the message is clear.

>PLEASE OBEY COMMISSAR SIMUS' INSTRUCTIONS. THIS WOMAN IS YOUR FRIEND. SHE BUILDS FOR FREEDOM. SHE ALSO HAS THE POWER TO ELECTROCUTE YOU.

((This should be fun to watch.
*steals some of Xantalos's infinite popcorn stash*))

Attempt to open up the Mission Replay thing, ideally in a separate "window". Mission 1, default settings. Grate+the people originally on that mission.
Unless something starts in the Tinker session.

((Oh, if only you people could hear my laughter. Mark Hamill as the Joker is a close approximation.))

Is that clear enough for you, Auron? I should hope so, because the next step if you continue is forcible detainment. I gave you your chance to explain yourself, but I will not tolerate willful insubordination. Now remove it. And keep in mind that all potential weapons packages must be approved by me.

((Now someone with art skills must draw commissar Simus. Or better yet, draw a generic robotic body so that we can use image editing software to make it appropriate to any situation.))

((According to most of the internet, there's only the latter.

Though, whether or not PW is aware of it, Commissar is actually quite close to the appropriate title for what I will be, it shares roughly the same root: Commissary, an officer in charge of supplying an army with provisions and equipment (and Commissariat).))

Pre drop or post drop?
Pre-drop.

Attempt to locate people I know.
Probably only succeed in locating Feyri because pretty much the only other person I know on that first mission would be Jim, who isn't four-armed or anything yet.

"Hi, Miss Feyri!"

((Hey, Tiruin, want to roleplay Virtual!Feyri?))

Be VR!Jim in Grate's Mission 1 sim. (Right now I believe that means we're in the briefing room.)

Jim merely looked at Grate with a raised eyebrow, although this was impossible to see through the mirrored lenses of his gasmask. Huh. What use is a kid on this kind of mission, let alone the HMRC? His gaze went to the woman the kid addressed, then flicked back the speakers the green voice was coming from. "I've got my equipment. I'm ready to go as soon as these people are," he said, crossing his arms.

(Trying to limit my own OOC chatter, but I do have one thing to say about that. I'm rereading it myself now and - assuming everything goes more or less exactly as it did - I wonder exactly how Grate is going to react to Feyri during this mission. Between her insistence Jim is alive/carrying his upper torso around with her to her using him as a surfboard to kill a sentinel, I can only imagine he won't look at her quite the same way after that. :P)

((Okay, so. Action actually incoming.))

Anton saves all the separate designs, and removes all but the Black Death and the Party Wagon from the scene. Then he separates the scenes for each ship, preparing to run scenarios to test their performance. "Testing, testing, one, two, three, testing..."

Create a series of VR tests to determine operational value of the refitted Courier and Blackship craft.

[For the Courier/"The Party Wagon"]
- Create a replica landscape of Hephaestus, specifically one of the important locations the UWM might strike at.
- Populate the vicinity of the site with UWM troops, as they would be if they were taking over the site, dropships, support armor and all.

Determine the minimum safe distance for launching the kinamp-fusion missiles, both for the ship itself and the target. Compare the short-term and long-term damage inflicted on the troops and the area between using the kinamp-fusion warheads, regular 5Kt nuclear warheads, and a Fission Instigator. Compare RU costs for outfitting the craft with either.

[For the Blackship/"The Black Death"]
- Replicate any location of Hephaestus, atmosphere and the space above it.

Compile a list of threats that the UWM fleet may pose. Orbitally launched nuclear missiles, kinetic impactors, small/large asteroids, subcapital ships used for close-range battlefield air interdiction, etc. Spare no expense to audacity. Throw in a hypothetical deployment of an Avatar of War against us, and a scenario where a ship was attempting to flee with something into the jumppoint, and needed interception.

Test how well would the Black Death be capable of responding to the threats, using either the Plasma Cannon, or the Laser Cannon loadout. How much forewarning would be needed to reach the target from the launch site at the base, be the target in atmosphere or in space (i.e. a kinetic impactor can't really be intercepted - but a ship can be stopped from firing if the intent is detected in time).
