"No." The subjects reply in unison, their eyes fixed firmly ahead.

"Good. Good." VonNost says with a nod. "There is nothing to fear. Soon this will be behind you and all the worlds of man shall be in your debt."

He waves to the man at the front of the line and the group advances again, slowly marching down the hall. As they advance, threading through a maze of passages and doorways, they are flanked on either side by soldiers. It's hard to tell if they're there to protect the subjects from the world, or if it's the other way around. The vessel has no feelings towards them, at least none strong enough to leave an impression. She regards them as one might regard a staircase or pillar; merely part of the decor. Eventually they reach a final door, a heavy bulkhead with vault like doors. One of the soldiers keys in a code and the door opens. The subjects walk inside, into a clean white barracks where hundreds more like them wait.

Every one of them turns their heads in unison.

"Welcome" They say in unison.

VonNost is gone so the team watches as the specimens spread out amongst their brothers and sisters. They don't speak but there is a strange sort of understanding amongst them; an unspoken connection. They sit down and sort of stare at one another. Not uncomfortable, not anxious. Just...staring. There is a very strange feeling in the vessel's chest. A feeling of being alone. Not lonely, no, not that. But the feeling that there is no one outside of herself in this room. They are all her and she is all them.
