The earth was wrecked in 2031. They were testing a device to terraform inhospitable planets, and it worked, with drastic side effects. Earthquakes of a magnitude never before seen ravaged the land, and the clouds thickened to block out the sun. With the planet dying like animals to the cold and the dark, the Arks were brought out. They were meant for an occasion such as this, when the earth turned upon its inhabitants. They could only hold 100 passengers, and so 200 left the earth as the ones left behind waited for their doom. The Arks could only go so far, and the fuel started running out and the damage to the ships was too great. They scanned for habitable planets as they had done for years, and found one directly in front of them. They crashed and many died, but the survivors pulled themselves out of the wreckage, and looked upon a beautiful land, with a burnt orange sky and bright green grass, and mountain ranges that reached into the heavens and glowed as the sun set behind them. They named it Savior. Both Arks were split into two factions, the Knights Templar, who decreed that human technology was the downfall of Earth, and led the expeditions for other lifeforms. They found naught but an empty alien city, filled with relics. They halved it with the other faction, the Reclaimers, who wanted the planet to become just like Earth. The Knights Templar salvaged what they could, and developed Exosuits out of it. Huge machines built to lift and protect, with magnetic rails on the back of the Exosuit and it's tools so that it can store them. Also they found a laboratory of sorts, with genetic modifiers, tubes which could change the entire genetic makeup of a newborn. Soon the Templars had become 8-foot-tall genetically perfect humans, with the side effect of increased aggression and massive egos. These egos led them to attack the Reclaimers, believing them foolish and standing in the way of survival. They changed the Exosuits, switching the tools for weapons and neurally linking the pilot to the suit. The Reclaimers didn't stand a chance, but ever since the attacks, their technology malfunctions and, if you look closely enough, you can see a faint shimmering in the air. The Templars search for the source of this troubles, and dig deeper. Those with psychic leanings hear a faint song, one of pain and sadness. They believed it to be the remnants of the alien race, and thus called it the Song of the Ancients. The Templars dug deeper. The song grew stronger. Soon they found honeycombs beneath the surface, filled with the shimmering lights and strange hunched creatures. They were not welcome, and the creatures attacked. They fell easily, but where one fell, five more seemed to take its place. The Templars brought all they could, and fought into the heart of the honeycombs. A great pulsing mass, from which the Song of the Ancients emanated. It was the heart of the living planet. They were trapped within the labyrinth, and the creatures came. Their technology failed them, and they fell until only one remained. Somehow, the alliance had tracked the Templar down, and transported him out. (WILL BE REVISED ONCE I GET MORE INFORMATION)
