Dwarves won't finish constructing a building.

I've designated three buildings to be constructed: a kitchen, a mason's shop, and a carpenter's shop. The dwarves move the materials to the area, and then they don't finish the job. They built buildings just fine earlier, so I have no idea why they stopped now.

You sure the dorves arent missing 000000000000.1 mm of wood or something?

What cancellation message are you receiving?  Is it "urist mcdwarf cancels construct kitchen: interrupted by kea"?

There is no interruption message. They just stop working on it.

EDIT: After I had to reload a previous save due to my miner being an idiot and getting himself killed, causing a tantrum, I had to rebuild some buildings. They constructed normally. The only building that won't construct now is the kitchen.

EDIT 2: Well, I finally got it to construct. I didn't know you had to have the cooking labor enabled on someone before you could make a kitchen.

Yeah most workshops can only be built by a dwarf with the respective labor involved. If you look on the unbuilt workshops they will say "waiting for dwarf with X labor" or something similar, which can tell you exactly what labor you need to construct it.

Some of the explanations in-game are a bit obtuse ("any workshop farming" on the farmer's workshop confused me) but the wiki page for each workshop has lists of skills used to build it under the "construction" section of the sidebar.

There's also the things that require two labors to make.

I.E. a bridge requires Architect for it to be designed and then Masonry to finish building it.  You'll pick up on them after awhile.
